MAS ' -WA EBY LAKE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE <br /> minutes of the September 30, 1997 Meeting <br /> Committee members present: Jaynes McGonagle(chair) , Steve Cadrin (secretary), <br /> William Taylor, Williarn Marsters, George Bingham <br /> The meeting commenced at 7-00 pm. <br /> .motion was made to approve May 29, 1997 minutes: Approved unanimously with <br /> modifications. <br /> Progress on the water-level study was discussed. Massachusetts Division of urine Fisheries <br /> removed boards in the dam in late August. Water-level gauges were set near the cranberry bog. <br /> public hearing will be held to present results. A herring ladder used to exist-near the dam <br /> which was set lover than the darn to ensure fish passage during lowwater-levels, but the ladder <br /> was filled because of an encroachment issue; Mass. DW supports rebuilding a run at the darn if <br /> the Town supports it. <br /> The contarninant plume from Forestdale was discussed. Members of the Committee felt that the <br /> Town should take a more active role in the issue. The Committee voted that the Chair-should <br /> draft a,letter to the Selectmen requesting action on the issue. The Secretary offered to contact <br /> Mass. Department of Environmental Protection for more information. <br /> Other business was discussed: The Chair reported that receipts from the beat ramp netted <br /> approximately$1,000, which is in a dedicated Town account, A notion was approved to send <br /> letter to the Waterways Committee to suggest haat jet skis be prohibited before 9-00 am or after <br /> TOO pm on weekdays and before 10:30 axe or after 7:00 pin on weekends. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 8-00 pm. <br /> Submitted to the Committee on January 19, 1998 by Steve Cadrin. <br />
