MAS ' -WA EBY LAKE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE minutes of the September 30, 1997 Meeting Committee members present: Jaynes McGonagle(chair) , Steve Cadrin (secretary), William Taylor, Williarn Marsters, George Bingham The meeting commenced at 7-00 pm. .motion was made to approve May 29, 1997 minutes: Approved unanimously with modifications. Progress on the water-level study was discussed. Massachusetts Division of urine Fisheries removed boards in the dam in late August. Water-level gauges were set near the cranberry bog. public hearing will be held to present results. A herring ladder used to exist-near the dam which was set lover than the darn to ensure fish passage during lowwater-levels, but the ladder was filled because of an encroachment issue; Mass. DW supports rebuilding a run at the darn if the Town supports it. The contarninant plume from Forestdale was discussed. Members of the Committee felt that the Town should take a more active role in the issue. The Committee voted that the Chair-should draft a,letter to the Selectmen requesting action on the issue. The Secretary offered to contact Mass. Department of Environmental Protection for more information. Other business was discussed: The Chair reported that receipts from the beat ramp netted approximately$1,000, which is in a dedicated Town account, A notion was approved to send letter to the Waterways Committee to suggest haat jet skis be prohibited before 9-00 am or after TOO pm on weekdays and before 10:30 axe or after 7:00 pin on weekends.
