Discussion: Mrs. Nichols reported that the jet skiers were still out after 7 PM and driving recklessly. She
had asked Perry Ellis if tickets had been written and in the process of the phone call had learned that the
assistant harbormasters were not trained by EPO to write tickets yet. This concerned all present. Ms.
Mason stated that there were new state regulations and the Town should have a copy of them from Jack
Sheppard in the next 2 weeks. Other changes suggested were keeping the gate attendants on duty until
M on weekends, new signs with the ne regulations, and increasing fees t $5 for NM residents and 1
for out of state residents. lir. Taylor wanted to make sure that the copy of the new regulations got to Jinn
Hanks so that he could put there on the Waterways web site, which is part of the Town site. Currently,
there is parking for 44 boats and trailers, 39 in the striped lot,,and perhaps the lot should be closed when
they are full. The gate attendants are teenagers and maybe should be older to deal with the problems Nein
encountered in the lot. yrs. Nichols reported she had checked with the attendants on a Sunday orning
and they did not know anything about handing out boating rules to those launching at the Boat ramp. Ms.
Mason will check with Leisure Services to be sure they continue to copy and hand out boating rules.
Joyce stated a portable toilet will be located at the launching area..
Mrs. Nichols wondered if the number of goats in a bass tourney could be added to, once the permit was
N
issued, and the answer from Joke Mason was"no."
Conclusions: Assistant harbormasters should be trained to write tickets, and boating rules should be
enforced, ,New launching area rules are being considered. Boating rules should be handed out at the
launch area..
Discussion; Ideas for the newsletter were discussed. Barbara Nichols wanted to include-information on the
watershed of the lake, an.d on water quality testing. It was noted that waterweed was notas prolific this
year and no matting of the weed was noted in Wakeby in mid July. Information on the prevention of
invasive species of weeds from the lake should also be included. Ed faker again offered to put this
information together for us.
Conclusions: The summer newsletter should be finished soon.
Respectfully submitted,
Barbara B. Nichols
