Mashpee Library Expansion Committee
Page -2-
Minutes of July 2312002
followed: Schematic design, 15%; Design Development 20%;
contract/constructions documents 40%,- construction observation 20%;
Negotiation 5%. This totals 100% and programming would be an additional
5%. Mashpee Commons can visualize a 2 story building on the current site.
Discussion followed about using current building with expensive renovations
and relocation for building. We will investigate potential dor both razing and
keeping. Randall then turned over the meeting to Stewart Roberts.
Stewart Roberts:
His firm is very comfortable with construction of libraries. He distributed a
colorful brochure with samples of libraries they have built. Grace asked
which would be closest to our needs and Stewart said the Pembroke Public
Library most closely fits. Stewart said they would be very interested in
cooperating with us and will do the initial work with Randall. Randall is very
comfortable with the scope of his work, reputation and dependability.
Stewart asked for a list of our Board members and Grace said it would be
sent. He also asked Helene for some other materials, which Randall did not
have and Helene said she could pull it from our previous work with Powers Co.
Everybody agreed that the Mashpee Public Library could have a happy
future.
With regard to the $80,000 donation offered by Mashpee Commons, Joyce
Mason has initiated discussion with Mashpee counsel and will have an answer
in a day or two. Obviously we are pleased with the offer but it needs to be
structured in the best method possible.
Kevin brought up the funding mechanism, which will be discussed in full at
the next meeting. Grace asked about chairs and substantial funding
bequests.
