As ty re was nouoruim res ent, the committee dispersed with review/approval of minutes from two previous meet* Kevin voiced the concern of the entire committee over the drd hitedts'estimated cost of000-0 7 fors construction of a new libr ry for the Town of Mashpee. This a ount is roughly$3,000,000' over the amount initially approved by the Town. Kevin posed the questfdn to Joyde Mason-- "Where' ' 'do' we.go from here' tt 4o ce reported that the Million-estimated cost for a 'new library had caused somerumblin at Town Flail. First of all, it would have to be approved by � Tdvwrn Grote. Second, a far as fitting into the Town debt schedule -of today, a $ Million project would #lave to be moved out two to three years befdre ever.being considered. Kevin stated that this option had been discussed, but noted'that it:does not sage a significant amountt`and stilleaves substantial mount of money that would need to be raised by the committee through fundraisin activities.-Ars , the question was raised as to the wisdorrr..of going forward'With construction' of a new' library half the size necessary to meet the existing.needs of the community. Joyce recommended that we're nest an audience before the Board of Selectmen to discuss with them4-- the situation, to gee if they are willing to change their-brig in i figgre of$ -M' illi No-a higher n' umber. Joyce wrill provide the debt schedul information to the Selectmen. -Currently# Mashpee is looking at n $800,000 shortfall. After ctober, it will be known what the State is going to do. The Tow n dies.have a.reerve fund, but it is not •available for use to fund torn budding projects. Joyce further stated that'she feels it is not feasible to hold -off ah the.11 brary profec't for four years.
