of existing conservation parcels along the Mashpee River as it runs parallel to Meetinghouse
Rd, including lands owned by MA Division of Fish and Wildlife to the north and Trustees of
Reservation and Mashpee Conservation lands to the south.
The 3.72 acres of existing Lopez conservation land to be swapped is exclusively upland and
contains no rare species habitat. Additionally, a portion of this land contains a porion of the
existing driveway for the Lopez family land. Although the significance of this 3.72 acres of
conservation land should not be downplayed in terms of wildlife habitat and groundwater
protection, the benefits of acquiring land that provides protection to riverfront outweigh the loss
of upland in this particular exchange. This proposal was unanimously endorsed by the Mashpee
Conservation Commission at their June Sty', 2017 public meeting. .
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the Mashpee Conservation Commission,
-Drew McManus
Mashpee Conservation Agent
508-539-1400 X8539
amcmanus@mashpeema.bov
