TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> BOARD OF APPEALS <br /> Minutes - Wednesday, October 9, 1996 <br /> The Mashpee Board of Appeals held a meeting on Wednesday, October 9, 1996 at 7:30 <br /> P.M. at the Carol H. Jacobson Senior Center. Board members present and acting <br /> throughout were: Edward M. Govoni, Chairman; James E. Regan III, Vice Chairman; <br /> Cheryl A. Hawver, Clerk and Associate Members Robert G. Nelson and Richard T. <br /> Guerrera. Associate Member James Dorgan was absent. Building Inspector William F. <br /> Hauck was in attendance. <br /> Sandalwood Village Association c/o New Seabury Com an -Requests a Special Permit <br /> under Section 174-54H of the Zoning By-laws to allow two signs of 10 square feet each at <br /> the entrance to the Sandalwood subdivision at the intersection of Great Neck Road South <br /> and Amos Landing Road. The site is located on an Open Space Easement under the <br /> Declaration of Sandalwood Doc. #1993337. <br /> Members sitting: E. Govoni, J. Regan, C. Hawver <br /> Albert Valentino represented the applicant and explained that the original sign at the <br /> entrance to the subdivision was reduced to 10 square feet and a second 10 square foot <br /> sign added to the other side. Mr. Govoni explained that the new code allowed two signs <br /> at the entrance to a subdivision. <br /> Mr. Regan moved to grant the Special Permit to allow two signs at the entrance. W. <br /> Govoni seconded and said the signs are within the 20 square feet allowed and will <br /> conform with the new sign by-law and would not be a detriment to the neighborhood and <br /> would improve visibility and safety, All agreed. <br /> Antonio F. and Michelle E. Brum -Request a Variance from Section 174-47 of the Zoning <br /> By-laws to vary the side setback requirements in a cluster subdivision to allow the <br /> construction of a garage on property located in an R-5 zoning district at 96 Old Colony <br /> Drive(Map 35, Block 50) Mashpee, MA. <br /> Members sitting: E. Govoni, J. Regan, C. Hawver <br /> John Finn, contractor, said he had understood that the side setbacks in the area were 10 <br /> feet when the foundation was poured. He later learned that the area required 15 foot side <br /> setbacks. He said that when the certified plan was done the foundation was 12.7 feet from <br /> the lot line. Mr. Finn had notified the abutter who had no objection of the location of the <br /> garage. <br />
