J <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> 1. Review of Coordinator's Monthly Report <br /> Gail Wilson distributed the Coordinator's monthly report to the committee, and stated that the <br /> report will now be the same monthly report that goes to the Town Manager. <br /> MIs. Wilson's new volunteer, Eda Stepper, will be taping the minutes for the Human Services <br /> Council meetings. The committee members requested that the Human Services council <br /> meeting minutes be emailed to them as soon as they are available, rather than waiting until <br /> the next monthly committee meeting for distribution. <br /> Ids. Wilson highlighted the B.A.T.T.L,.E.M1.I.N,13 event scheduled for March 28, 2012 titled <br /> "Transitioning from combat to Home" to be held at the Transportation center. A fundraising <br /> event sponsored by the Suicide Coalition is planned for a date in .July 2012, called Laughing <br /> Away the Blues", MIs. Wilson plans to attend these everts. Mary Scanlan reported on a <br /> support group available for the family members of the returning soldiers, run by Fred <br /> Diamond, a former Human Services committee member, - <br /> Gail Wilson reported on a request received from the K.C. coombs Special-Education <br /> counselor to assist in providing student counseling on the school's truancy problem. Ms. <br /> Wilson informed K.C. coombs that the Town contract does not permit counseling by the <br /> Human Services coordinator to anyone under the age of 12, but she would be available to <br /> families if they needed financial or other assistance. John Cahalane stated that the school <br /> has guidance counselors on staff to handle student problems, and that the issue of truancy is <br /> not within the Human Services Coordinator's scope of responsibility. ,Janice Walford <br /> recommended that Joyce Mason be informed about these requests coning from the school, <br /> and suggested that the issue be handed from the Town Manager's office. <br /> � <br /> Hoarding Task Force. Gail Wilson reported that Board of health Agent Glen Harrington had <br /> a <br /> resigned from the Hoarding Task Force. The Board of Health feels that the handling of <br /> hoarding issues is outside the realm of responsibility of the 130H. <br /> . review of Meeting with Flay Ta m as i, Gosnold CEO. <br /> Gail Wilson reported that on March 2, 2012, she and Fruth Elias met with Mr. Tamasi. When asked <br /> about the Mashpee Police Department reports that Gosnold has repeatedly turned down requests <br /> for admission to Gosnold on the basis that there are no beds available, Mir. Tamasip ointed out that <br /> the demand-for admission to Gosnold has grown significantly in the last fever years, but that he would <br /> review the laves regarding the calls that come from Mlashpee. Mr. Tamasi will determine whether <br /> there is a special contact person that Mashpee could ask for when calling Gosnold, rather than <br /> simply making a random call. <br /> Mary Scanlan stated that funding originally going to Gosnold was for mental health, but that Gosnold <br /> is noir offering alcohol and drug treatment as well. Ms. Scanlan added that the Poca'sset clinic is <br /> solely for mentgl health treatment. The committee agreed that they would like to invite Mir. Tam <br /> asi <br /> to a future HuMan Services Committee meeting. <br /> 3. Town Fleeting Article Update <br /> Janice Walford reported that the Board of Selectmen had unanimously recommended approval of <br /> Town Meeting Article 24 at the BOS meeting on 3112/12, and the Finance committee will be voting <br /> on the article at their meeting on 3/15/12. John cahalane confirmed that the article would be <br /> included in the Warrant. <br /> 2 <br />
