Mashpee Historic District Study Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> July 29, 1999 <br /> The Mashpce Historic District Study Committee (MHDSC) held a meeting on Thursday, <br /> July 29, at 4:30 PM at Mashpee Town Hall. <br /> Members present were Frank Hicks, Ed Callahan, Tom Fudalla, Joe Polito, Russell Peters <br /> &Earle Mills. <br /> R. Peters called the meeting to order at 4:45 PM. <br /> T. Fudalla distributed copies of the zoning article which is intended to be submitted to <br /> Annual Town Meeting. The Article will add the phrase "Mashpee Center Overlay <br /> District" to current zoning districts already outlines} in Section 174-4. Mr. Fudalla <br /> explained that while current"uses"will remain the same, some additional rules will apply <br /> within this overlay. Mr. Fudalla noted the Article has already been submitted to the <br /> Board of Selectmen. F. Hicks motioned to support, endorse and submit the Article to <br /> Town Meeting. E. Callahan seconded. All agreed. <br /> T. Fudalla then distributed information received from Jessica Roweraft of the <br /> Massachusetts Historic Commission (MHDC) which can serve as a guideline when <br /> meeting requirements to obtain grant funds to pursue future MHDSC plans. <br /> Mr. Fudalla went on to say the committee should begin to concentrate on which areas to <br /> work with first, reminding members that by September, the survey results from Public <br /> Archeological Laboratory (PAL) should be in and a good source of information. Mr. <br /> Fudalla suggested delineating districts by looking at maps and photos. Committee <br /> members should review Minutes of July 17, 1999 and prepare to discuss district <br /> preferences after that. <br /> J. Polito raised discussion on size and district area. R. Peters noted that as the 1930's was <br /> a transition out of a depression, it was an important time. J. Polito suggesting choosing a <br /> year when most large transitions occurred. R. Peters noted there were transitional times <br /> even back to the 1830's and `40s. <br /> T. Fudalla painted out that the MHDSC relates to architecture, as well as places so <br /> perhaps the next goal would be, after PAL's report is reviewed, to designate the first <br /> district of choice. Then an appropriate set of rules needs to be laid out. He suggested <br /> soliciting copies of other historic district's rules before the next meeting. <br /> R. Peters suggested concentrating on Main Street with some secondary areas in mind. T. <br /> Fudalla, going back to the subject of PAL's report, expressed disappointment that no <br />
