Board of Appeals Minutes - October 23, 1991 5 .
J
V. Driscoll : My name is Ginnie Driscoll . Mr . Burtis has
come before every Appeals Board, Conservation
Commission promising to do everything that has
to be done in order for him to continue doing
what he ' s doing . He makes the promises . . . I
sat in that room at the Cape Cod Commission.
They went over every condition with him and he
agreed to every single one of them . He ' s had
120 days to do this but made no attempt to do
anything and everybody is bending over
backwards getting him what we wants without
making any concessions to the residents of
Seconsett Island . Not only that, I am under
the impression that anybody who owes back
taxes has no right to be before the Appeals
Board . Mr. Burtis owes almost $20,000 in back
taxes and has no right to be here as far as
I ' m concerned . As far as I ' m concerned he had
nt right to go for the Special Permit in the
first place .
W. Hanrahan : Bill , do you want to respond to the taxes?
W. Burtis : 10% of the tax bill has been paid .
V. Driscoll : I spoke to the Tax Collector today.
W. Burtis : Mrs . Walsh can verify that for me . I met with
Anne Shaw and 10% of my taxes were paid and I
set up a plan with her so I ' m all set with
her , She agreed . I agreed . I don ' t think it
belongs in this meeting right now, at all . I
knew it was going to come up . I had to pay
10% of my tax bill . She was satisfied with it
and I was satisfied with it and we set up a
plan to pay it .
V. Driscoll : The only reason that he offered to pay the
taxes was because he knew that was an issue
here tonight .
W . Hanrahan: Well , they ' re paid .
V. Driscoll : I called the Tax Collector ' s office today.
They said no payment has been made today.
W. Hanrahan : Do you feel . . . I sense that you feel that if
the Commission voted a 90-day extension and
this Board voted to comply with the
Commission. . . do you feel that you ' d be back
here in another 90 days?
V . Driscoll : Yes, I do . This has been going on for 2 1/2
years . All the conditions on that Special
Permit have been existing for 2 1/2 years .
J . Driscoll : When does the Town do something about these
things? At what point . . . . ?
W . Hanrahan : Wait a minute, now. She is talking . I ' ll
recognize you . . . .
J . Driscoll : Thank you very much.
