Board of Appeals Minutes - October 23, 1991 b .
r
V. Driscoll : He ' s known for 2 1/ years that he had to post
a $ 10, O00 bond on landscaping so it ' s not lika
it ' s a new issue . Since the Cape Cod
Commission hearing they ' ve gone out and bought
a brand new tow truck over there that probably
cost $30, 000 or $40, 000 after getting his
hardship exemption. This has been just as
much a hardship on us . I ' d like for you to
see our legal bills for the last 2 1/2 years
-- something we should never to have had to
Pay if you people had done your job here .
J . Driscoll : John Driscoll , Ginny ' s husband . We ' re in this
position because of this Town . You people
granted a Special Permit .
W. Hanrahan : Wait a minute . We ' re not going to go back and
hear the merits of whether this Board should
have granted a Special Permit or not . That ' s
already been heard . We ' re here to discuss . . . .
J . Driscoll : What I ' m talking about is what we ' ve been
through over this whole time because of that
issue .
W . Hanrahan : I think it ' s fair to say that no matter what
side of the fence you ' re on in this issue a
lot of people have been through a lot with it
and probably a lot of people want it put to
bed one way or the other so let ' s see which
way we can go . Obviously. . . .
J . Driscoll : When do these things get enforced? Who
enforces them?
W. Hanrahan: That ' s what we ' re talking about .
J . Driscoll : You ' re always talking about them but who does
them? Who enforces them?
V . Driscoll : The concessions have always been in their
favor. There hasn ' t been one concession in
our favor in 2 1/2 years -- not one . We pay
taxes here too .
W. Hanrahan : That isn ' t even an issue .
J . Driscoll : It is an issue because it says in the by-laws
that you ' re not supposed to be before the
Appeals Board if you owe taxes . That makes it
an issue doesn ' t it?
V . Driscoll : I would just like to know why we haven ' t been
granted the same concessions that they have
been granted .
J . Driscoll : The rest of the Town too , Why shouldn ' t other
people be able to pay their taxes whenever
they want .
W . Hanrahan : I don ' t know about other people or who has
paid taxes . I ' m not the tax collector.
V . Driscoll : We asked for one simple request . We asked
that boats not be allowed to be stored along
that fence . So you met us 1/3 of the way and
said they can ' t store them there from . . . .
