Board of Appeals Minutes -- October 23, 1991 7 .
s
W . Hanrahan : I appreciate your feelings on this, I really
do . . . .
V . Driscoll : You can ' t appreciate . . , .
W. Hanrahan : Hear me out . I understand that this is a very
emotional issue for you and has been but the
only thing we can discuss tonight are the
actions of the Building Inspector and the
Appeal thereto . We are not going to discuss
the original pian or the original vote --- that
is not before us tonight . It is not within
our purview , We are here to discuss the
Appeal of the Building Inspector ' s Decision
and apparently it comes down to Condition #2
and the bond and the landscaping . That ' s what
we ' re here to discuss .
V . Driscoll : For him to be granted an additional 90 days
because of finances . . . he ' s got a boatyard
full of boats over there . Somebody is paying
for. . . .
W. Hanrahan : What would be the alternative if the Board
shut the whole thing down and not allow it to
come to fruition the way the order is
originally drafted --- the intent of the Board
was to realize these conditions -- if it
determined that 90 days is necessary for that
to be realized, would you argue that it ' s best
to shut it down and never realize those
conditions?
V . Driscoll : Yes -- at this point, Yes . Because 120 days
hasn ' t been long enough what makes you think
that another 90 days is going to do it .
W . Hanrahan : That ' s what we ' re here to find out .
V . Driscoll : Well , I ' m telling you I ' ve lived with this for
the last 2 1/2 years .
K. Perry: You asked Mr. Burtis a question about the gas
tanks , I would like some verification on
that . Where is it -- is this a new tank, the
old tank? I ' d like to know. . . .
W. Hanrahan : Is that under discussion tonight? I want to
make it clear what we ' re here for. The Board
is empowered to hear the Appeal of the
Building Inspector ' s orders -- that is the
only thing that has been petitioned before us
and the only thing we can hear .
K . Perry : I know but you did ask him tonight -- 10
minutes ago .
W. Hanrahan : Bill , do you want to answer that?
W . Burtis : Sure, with so much confusion with the State
Fire Marshall . . . . We presented a plan here
an engineer ' s plan -- for a whole new tank
system -- the most sophisticated . . . .
K. Perry : State of the art . . . .
W. Burtis : We can ' t move .
K. Perry : Where are the gas tanks now?
