TOWN OF MASHPEE BOARD OF APPEALS Minutes April 24, 1991 The Mashpee Board of Appeals held a meeting at 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday, April 24, 1991 at the Mashpee Town Hall. Board members present and acting throughout were: Cheryl A. Hawver, Chairman; Michael A. Makunas, Vice-Chairman; William J. Hanrahan, Clerk; and Associate Members John J. Friel and B. Thomas Christian. Building Inspector Douglas S. Boyd was in attendance. Edward A. and Martha M. Palank - Request a Special Permit under Section 174-17 of the Zoning By-laws for permission to expand a non-conforming structure with a front addition and second story in an R-3 zoning district on property located at 181 Daniel's Island Road (Map 1.00, Block 39) Mashpee, MA. Members sitting: C. Hawver, M. Makunas, W. Hanrahan Engineer John Slavinsky represented the applicant. He stated that plans had been approved by the Conservation Commission and the Board of Health. The applicant plans a front addition and a second story and Mr. Slavinsky said structure has been a three bedroom house and would continue to have only three bedrooms. No comments were received from abutters. Mr. Makunas moved to grant the Special Permit. Mr. Hanrahan seconded. All agreed. Elizabeth Joachim - Requests a Variance from Section 174-31 of the Zoning By-laws for permission to vary the front setback requirement for corner lots in an R-5 zoning district on property located at 4 Hillside Avenue (Map 49, Block 189) Mashpee, MA. Members sitting: C. Hawver, M. Makunas, W. Hanrahan Ms. Joachim presented plans for a proposed house on an irregularly shaped corner lot. She explained that it was difficult to place the house and septic system and maintain two front setbacks. Richard Finley, an abutter, reviewed the plan and had no objection. Mr. Hanrahan moved to grant the Variance. Mr. Makunas seconded. All agreed. Edward R. Wasil - (Advisement from April 10, 1991 meeting) Members sitting: C. Hawver, M. Makunas, W. Hanrahan Mr. Makunas moved to grant the renewal of the Special Permit to December 31, 1991 and a denial of all modifications of the 1990 i. Special Permit. Mr. Hanrahan seconded. All agreed.
