Public Forum John Denaro addressed the Committee on the concept of <br /> purchasing dictionaries for all grade 5 students. - There would <br /> e 250 dictionaries purchased by Mr. Denaro along with <br /> donations from local merchants. He explained "the overall <br /> purpose of the dictionary program is to provide an additional <br /> tool for teachers of the 5th grade students of the elementary <br /> schools to enhance the established reading programs, <br /> vocabulary programs and most importantly, to expose the <br /> student to neer words and phrases used in and out of the <br /> classroom." The goal is that each student would have a <br /> dictionary in grades -12 Within gree years. Mr. Denaro met <br /> with the elementary principals earlier who endorsed this idea. <br /> Discussion followed on the legality of participating in such an <br /> activity. <br /> Motion made by Mrs.. Lynch, seconded by Mrs. Mills, to <br /> approve the dictionary program contingent upon a legal <br /> opinion from the school attorney. <br /> VO'T'E: Unanimous <br /> IV.
