�s <br /> r <br /> SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> SPECIAL BUDGET MEETING <br /> I <br /> JUNE 28, 1999 <br /> Minutes <br /> Attendees: Chairwoman Kathleen Lynch, Janice Mills, Maryann <br /> Macdonald, Theresa Cook, and Stephen Paxton. Also in attendance: <br /> Superintendent of Schools Sherwood Fluery and Bookkeeper Gail <br /> Score. <br /> Mrs. Lynch called the meeting to order at 7:07 .m. 'in high school <br /> conference room B103. <br /> Tonight's discussion focused on the FY99 budget. Mr. Fluery asked Mrs. <br /> Scor ie to update the Committee on the status of the budget. She said <br /> there is currently a balance of $89,630.41 however, there are still some <br /> outstanding bills i.e., electric, $20,000; <br /> Mr. Fluery stated there is an excess because the supply budget was <br /> frozen in December,, thus the surplus of money in that account. <br /> Mr. Paxton asked if there were any maintenance issues that needed to be <br /> addressed. Mrs. Scor ie said a paving project near the wastewater <br /> treatment plant will need to be done. <br /> Mrs. Lynch also reiterated a suggestion made previously regarding the <br /> purchase of smaller cafeteria tables and chairs for the younger children <br /> at the Quashnet Schools. <br /> Mr. Fluery, after discussions with the principals, said a reduction in the <br /> recess monitors cannot be accomplished. <br /> After much discussion, a motion was made by Mr. Saxton, seconded by <br /> Ms. Macdonald, to use the surplus funds from the FY99 budget to <br /> purchase supplies after the outstanding invoices are paid. <br /> NO'T'E: Unanimous <br /> Mr. Fluery updated the Committee on ' the Business Manager <br /> applications. <br /> a <br />
