The School Committee has requested $128,000 in addition to that to pay
for full-day, every-day kindergarten, Currently, the school provides two choices for kindergarten: half-
day, every day or full-day, alternate day. Deirdre asked if the School Committee planned to institute full-
day, alternate day for all children, if the full-day, every-day program was not funded. Chairman Consalvi
said no, that parents would be given the same choice they have this year.
Dr. DeMoura distributed information on the impact of a $5,300,000 budget. Selectman Vacarro
explained that the Selectmen had not meant to imply it was recommending a level-funded budget for
FY94, The Board had not prepared an actual recommendation.
Dr. DeMoura then distributed information on the impact of a $5,515,000 budget. He itemized the
programs that would have to be reduced or eliminated from his original $6,082,476 budget request.
The Finance Committee asked for clarification on a few items, as to whether they were cuts from the
current budget or reduction for the requested budget.
Selectman Vacarro asked Dr. DeMoura to explain how he arrived at a Falmouth Tuition budget of
$1,543,015. Falmouth said that tuition would increase 3.5% to $4,977.47 per student. Dr. DeMoura
multiplied that by an estimated enrollment of 310 students to arrive at the estimate. After some
discussion, the School Committee agreed that with the Executive Secretary that using; an enrollment of
300 students, for a budget of$1,500,000 would be acceptable.
Selectman Vacarro felt that those funds should be transferred to the Mashpee school budget, but the
Finance Committee said that it had a way to go before it could apply those funds specifically to the
school.
ADJOURNMENT 9:15 p.m.
Minutes respectfully submitted,
Deirdre Greelish
Acting Recording Secretary
