Page 2
Mr. Goggin suggested going with $67 ,384 as previously discussed for
salary and wage. Mr. Baker was not in favor of this. He felt you
would be creating a management nightmare. Mr. Dunivan still felt
that there are certain boards that do not need secretaries for
their meetings, South Cape Beach, etc.
PLANNING DEPARTMENT
Dan Goggin felt that the Town Planner does need some assistance,
but it could be possibly a summer intern or some sum of money for
temporary help, without creating a new position. Mr. Baker also
felt that this must only be temporary.
POLICE
Ed Baker recommended a total of $1 ,149, 350 for the police
department budget. This figure breaks down as follows: $58,176
police chief; $49,839 deputy chief; $615,995 20 officers; $29, 333
administrative assistant; $16,418 2 clerks; $22,000 SFOs; $32 ,316
shift differentials; $145,000 police overtime; $6,863 clerical
overtime. This total of salary and wage is $975,940 y- $2 ,890
animal control officer = $973 ,050 for salary and wage + expenses
and capital .
FINANCE COMMITTEE/BOARD OF SELECTMEN JOINTLY
Members present representing the Board of Selectmen were Nancy
Caffyn, Chairperson; James Vaccaro; Judy Mills and George Costa.
FlnComm members and the Selectmen reviewed the sheet Deirdre
Greelish prepared with the two Board's differences in regard to
certain departments.
ASSESSORS
Mr. Vaccaro indicated that the Selectmen were going with their
original recommendation of $1,200 each. There was no change.
FinComm recommended $300 each, with a stipend for outstanding work.
BUILDING DEPARTMENT
Both Selectmen and Fincomm agreed on the recommendation of $101,578
salaries and wages and $8,730 expenses.
COUNCIL ON AGING
Ms. Greelish stated that FinComm agreed to go along with the
Selectmen's recommendation of $44, 572 salaries and wages, but that
she hoped in the next year the 20 hour part time policy would be
reviewed. Both Boards agreed to $10,000 expenses.
