Mr. Dunivan still felt <br /> that there are certain boards that do not need secretaries for <br /> their meetings, South Cape Beach, etc. <br /> PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br /> Dan Goggin felt that the Town Planner does need some assistance, <br /> but it could be possibly a summer intern or some sum of money for <br /> temporary help, without creating a new position. Mr. Baker also <br /> felt that this must only be temporary. <br /> POLICE <br /> Ed Baker recommended a total of $1 ,149, 350 for the police <br /> department budget. This figure breaks down as follows: $58,176 <br /> police chief; $49,839 deputy chief; $615,995 20 officers; $29, 333 <br /> administrative assistant; $16,418 2 clerks; $22,000 SFOs; $32 ,316 <br /> shift differentials; $145,000 police overtime; $6,863 clerical <br /> overtime. This total of salary and wage is $975,940 y- $2 ,890 <br /> animal control officer = $973 ,050 for salary and wage + expenses <br /> and capital . <br /> FINANCE COMMITTEE/BOARD OF SELECTMEN JOINTLY <br /> Members present representing the Board of Selectmen were Nancy <br /> Caffyn, Chairperson; James Vaccaro; Judy Mills and George Costa. <br /> FlnComm members and the Selectmen reviewed the sheet Deirdre <br /> Greelish prepared with the two Board's differences in regard to <br /> certain departments. <br /> ASSESSORS <br /> Mr. Vaccaro indicated that the Selectmen were going with their <br /> original recommendation of $1,200 each. There was no change. <br /> FinComm recommended $300 each, with a stipend for outstanding work. <br /> BUILDING DEPARTMENT <br /> Both Selectmen and Fincomm agreed on the recommendation of $101,578 <br /> salaries and wages and $8,730 expenses. <br /> COUNCIL ON AGING <br /> Ms. Greelish stated that FinComm agreed to go along with the <br /> Selectmen's recommendation of $44, 572 salaries and wages, but that <br /> she hoped in the next year the 20 hour part time policy would be <br /> reviewed. Both Boards agreed to $10,000 expenses. <br />
