MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE PUBLIC HEARING - FY01 SCHOOL BUDGET - $14,075,000 JUNE 7, 2000 Minutes Attendees: Chairwoman Janice Mills, Theresa Cook, DonnaJean Lopez, Ben Caswell, and Kathleen Lynch. Also in attendance were Superintendent of Schools Sherwood Fluery and Business Administrator Russ McGown. I. Call Public Hearing Mrs. Mills called the public hearing to order at 7:30 p.m. in to Order high school conference room B103. II. Reading of Public Mrs. Mills read aloud the public hearing which stated the Notice following: "Notice is hereby given that the Mashpee School Committee will conduct a Public Hearing under Chapter 71, Section 38N for the purpose of approving their 2000-2001 school budget of $14,075,000 on Wednesday, June 7, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. in high school conference room B103, 500 Old Barnstable Road, Mashpee, MA 02649 at which time all interested persons, parties and corporations may appear and be heard in relation thereto. Copies of the budget are available for review in the Office of the Superintendent, 500 Old Barnstable Road, Mashpee, MA. III. Presentation by Mr. Fluery thanked the voters, Finance Committee, Board of Superintendent Selectmen and School Committee for their work this past year on the FY01 budget. He also expressed concern over the special education portion of it. Mr. McGown requested a meeting regarding the reallocation of the FY01 budget. IV. Discussion .Mr. Fluery asked for any questions. V. Public Input 5.1 Proponents —There was no discussion for "Proponents." 5.1 Opponents — Finance Committee Chair Dean Arden discussed his concern regarding the FY01 projected enrollment numbers vs. the percentage budget increase from the FY00 budget. VI. Close Public Input Mrs. Mills closed the public input at 7:45 p.m. VII. Approval/Disapproval Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Cook, to Of FY2001 Budget approve the School Department's FY01 budget of $14,075,000.
