MASHPEE SCHOOL M1 ITT - REGULAR MEETING — SEPTEMBER 13, 2000 PAGE 4 Opening g 'ch ola For the most part, opening day rare smoothly at each building; teachers were pleased with them- classrooms; the cafeterias had adequate space and seating according to the custodians or principals; the building mechanical al systems were in good condition and the buildings were clean. An area of concern is the Coombs School parking lot which currently leads itself to confusion and congestion with busses and oars. Mr. Cook suggests hiring a design service to improve the parking areas and sidewalks that would include additional parking, separate entrances for buses and general parting and a designated area for parents to pick up or drop off their children. ,Cleaning: The custodial staff worked throughout the Labor Day weekend in order to get the buildings ready for the first day of school. Everything was accomplished in a timely fashion and the buildings look great. The now cafeteria tables arrived. at the Quashnet Schools and will be assembled before school starts. New custodial assignments will include regular scrubbing and burnishing ofall common areas. Maintenance/ante Grounds- The ro nds`1'h maintenance staff completed the painting of the new Superintendent's office at the Quashnet School. They also restored the corridor floor back to normal after the plumber finished connecting the bathroom drain line. A kiln that was moved from the Quashnet School to the High School arts room has been connected and is ready for usage. The athletic fields are ready for play and the coaches are pleased with their condition. Nein Office for the Superintendent. Due to complications with modifying the HVAC system, the move in date for the new office is September 25th. Coombs School principal Mr. Doyle will have an update on the Coombs School playground at the September 201h meeting. r
