JOINT MEETING - SCHOOL COMMITTEE AND SCHOOL COUNCILS — JANUARY 4, 2001 <br /> PAGE <br /> Also,the School Council requested the following for next year- <br /> 1 Grade 6 teacher to accommodate the increasing enrollments ofGrade 5 students and a .2 <br /> specialist <br /> 2 Special education teacher and special education assistant <br /> Remedial reading teacher .2 <br /> Remedial math teacher 1. <br /> The Coombs School Council was represented by Principal Louise Doyle, Guidance Counselor Lois <br /> Hirshberg, Kathy Penney,Diane Cools, Loretta Le ni,Christie Cirdgeley,and Linda Kot. <br /> Mrs. Doyle commended the curriculum chairs and the council members for the efforts. <br /> Mrs. Doyle presented the following requests on behalf of the School Council: <br /> 1 Storage space needed. A suggestion was made to add a second floor above the library <br /> and cafeteria. <br /> 2 Parking lot/driveway <br /> Wall reinforcements <br /> 4 Telephone system/intercom <br /> Reinstate the pre-first class <br /> 6 Supplies <br /> Personnel meds: <br /> Increase the guidance counselor(.5 additional) <br /> .5 nurse date entry clerk <br /> 9 English as a Second Language <br /> 1 Administrative assistance for the principal was also suggested. Mr. Fluery will create <br /> sugl gestion on ow to obtain admini trative.assistance in the principal's off]c . <br /> The Coombs School Council prioritized their requests with the pre-first class as a top priority along with <br /> the administrative support. <br /> There was a break at : o p.m. <br /> The Committee reconvened at 8:15 p.m. <br /> Discussion followed on laving a joint meeting with the Selectmen and Finance Committee on January <br /> 16th, however, a preliminary meeting was also mentioned.
