a <br /> JOINT MEETING— SCHOOL COMMITTEE, BOARD OF SELECTMEN AICD <br /> FINANCE COMMITTEE <br /> JANUARY l , 2001 <br /> Minutes <br /> Attendees: <br /> }School Committee—Chairperson Janice Mills, Theresa Cook, I onna.Jean Lopez, and Ben <br /> Caswell. Kathleen Lynch was absent this evening. Also in attendance were <br /> Superintendent of Schools Sherwood Fl ery and Business Administrator Russ McGo n. <br /> Board of Selectmen -- Chairman David Leveille, John Cahalane, Wayne Taylor, Kenneth <br /> Marsters,, and George "Chuckle" Green. Also in attendance was Town Administrator <br /> Robert Whritenour, Jr. <br /> Finance Comms — Chairman Dears Arden, Maryanne Gibbs, Carlton Meredith. <br /> Frederic Blythe arrived at 6:55 p.m. Jeff Arnold, Steve Cashman and James Morgan <br /> were absent this evening. <br /> Mrs. Mills called the School Committee to order at 6:32 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meting <br /> Room and Town lull. <br /> Mr. Whrzteno r discussed the towns revenue status Doting that "the number one wild <br /> { <br /> card" in the to n's budget is the amount of Chapter 70 state education aid. He said the <br /> three big revenue sources are property taxes, %; state revenues, 18%; and non-property <br /> tax Deal, 13%and the key to the budget is the resolution aid at $4,211,661. The FY2002 <br /> town's budget figure is projected to b $35,064,781, which is a $1.27 million increase <br /> over FYo L <br /> After Mr. Whriteno r"s presentation,, Mr. Fluery expressed concern over increased high <br /> school enrollments (which is projected to be about 70 next school year) as well as MCAS <br /> costs and new programs. <br /> .-Mrs. Hills thanked the Selectmen and Finance Committee for their financial support over <br /> the years. <br /> Topics ofdiscussion focused on computer costs and MCAS tests. <br /> It was decided the next ioint meeting would be held on Monday, February 5,2001 at <br /> :00 p.m. in Town Hall, <br /> At this point, the School Committee departed the Selectmen's Meeting loom and <br /> continued their meeting in Room #2 in Town lull. <br />
