4 <br /> MA HPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETTi FEBRUARY 2 ,2001 PAGE 2 <br /> VII. Student Advisory Student Advisory Council representative Tyle Dunt discussed the recent student <br /> Council survey stating he met with Mr.Brown and reviewed the generic survey forwarded by <br /> Mr.Fluery. <br /> Also, after Kyle's report to the Committee last month regarding graffiti in the high <br /> school, Mr. Brown made an announcement to students regarding graffiti. Following <br /> Mr. Brown's announcement,this issue has ceased. <br /> VIII. Deport of the Mrs. Bills gave an update regarding the joint meeting the Committee had on February <br /> Superintendent 261h with the Selectmen and Finance Committee. At that meeting,the FY02 budget was <br /> discussed. There was no final "bottom lire" figure given by the Selectmen, however, <br /> the Finance Committee voted at their previous meeting to increase the school <br /> department's FY02 budget by$850,000 t $14,925,000. <br /> i <br /> After discussion,a motion was made by Mrs. Lynch, seconded by Mrs. Cool,to <br /> approve a school department FY02 budget figure of 15,375,000. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Mr. Fluery noted he has responses to the questions that were raised at the joint meeting <br /> on February 26th with the Selectmen and Finance Committee and stated material is <br /> available in his office for review. <br /> 8.1 Personnel <br /> .1.1 Increase in Substitute_Drier Pay— Mr. McCown recommended a Pay rate of <br /> 11.32 for substitute driver pay which is commensurate with the town's pay rate. <br /> Driver's must obtain a 7D driver's license in order to drive students. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Cook, seconded by firs. Lopez, to increase the gran driver pay <br /> from $8.00 to$11.32. <br /> After discussion, it was decided to discuss this issue in executive session. <br /> Mrs. Cook rescinded her motion and Mrs.Lopez rescinded her second ofthe motion. <br /> .2 Food Service Update -- Mr. McCown will meet with hartwells' District <br /> Manager Gerry.tones and obtain two months' of lunch figures. <br /> Mr. McCown noted that the current food services contract will expire at the end of this <br /> school year. <br /> .3 Facilities Report— In his monthly report, Mr. Cook highlighted the following <br /> issues: <br /> Coombs School: <br /> • A safety issue regarding the two front exit/entry concrete landings. The fencing <br /> has been installed to prevent exiting over the sloes of the walkway. <br /> Safety devices have been placed over the hinges of the bathroom doors. <br /> • site and traffic survey was conducted on February 1 h . Mr.Coale then met with <br /> Mrs. Doyle to discuss new design possibilities for the parking lot and entry <br /> roadways. The information will be used for a presentation ofconceptual drawings. <br />
