Mrs. P rolski will <br /> investigate. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Lynch, seconded by Mr. Caswell, to <br /> approve the Grades 7-12 Foreign Language Philosophy and <br /> Scope and Sequence. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> .2 Athletics — Teams Organization — High School Principal Ira <br /> Brown addressed the Committee on this issue which dealt with <br /> the eligibility of grades 7-12 students to Play on varsity or sub- <br /> varsity sports teams. if a middle school athlete is evaluated as <br /> being clearly advanced and athletically superior to his peers, <br /> and could benefit by competing at a higher level, then the <br /> coach may approach the parents of the athlete and discuss the <br /> possibility of him or her playing at a higher level. If the <br /> parents agree, then the athlete, the athlete's parents, the <br /> coach(es), the athletic director, and the principal will meet a <br /> final determination. The athlete's emotional maturity as well <br /> as his or kir physical maturity and contribution to the higher <br /> level team will be given careful consideration. <br /> Mr. Brown will present a policy regarding the above at the <br /> May regular meting <br /> V. Acknowledgments .1 Coombs School Custodial Staff—Coombs School Principal <br /> Louise Doyle commended the Coombs School custodial staff <br /> for their efforts in maintaining the building over the past <br /> several weeks. Adjustments were needed and the building <br /> remained in terrific condition when the students returned from <br /> February vacation. <br /> .2 Correspondence with Department of Education dated March 8, <br /> 2001 — ,Joseph Augenblick — A letter of commendation was <br /> received from the Department of Education thanking Joseph <br /> Augenblik for his efforts in successfully generating and <br /> transmitting the SIMS 35 data element file using the <br /> Massachusetts Data Collection System during the first <br /> transmission period. <br /> 5.3 Correspondence from Cape Symphony Orchestra dated March <br /> 9,.._2001 — This was a letter received from Eric > orenstein, <br /> Executive Director of the Cape Symphony Orchestra,thanking <br /> ashpee for its support of the Cape Symphony's educational <br /> initiative this year. <br /> .4 Mrs. Lynch acknowledged the student performance during the <br /> second half of the Grade 7 and 8 Concert Exchange with New <br /> Bedford last evening at the high school. <br />
