'R <br /> MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> REGULAR MIEETIN <br /> AUGUST 1,2001 <br /> Minutes <br /> Attendees: Chairwoman Theresa Cook,Ben Caswell, DonnaJ an Lopez, Janice Mills, and Mollie Reis. Also in attendance <br /> were Superintendent of Schools Sherwood Fluery and Business Administrator Michael Tarlow. <br /> 1. Call Meeting Mrs. Cook called the regular meeting to order at 6:36 p.m. in the Quashn t School <br /> to Order Library. <br /> 11. Executive Session Motion made by Mr.Caswell, seconded by Mrs. Mills,to move into executive session <br /> at 6.37 p.m. for the purpose of negotiations and personnel. <br /> Doll Call Vote: In favor—Mrs. Cook, Mr. Caswell, Mfrs. Lopez, Mrs. Mills, and Mfrs. <br /> Reis;opposed—none. <br /> The meeting reconvened at 7:15 p.m. <br /> III. Approval of Minutes 3.1 Regular M1e ting — July II I,, 2001 —Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by <br /> Mrs. Reis,to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held on July 11, 2001. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> .2 Executive Session,-July 11,2001 —Motion made by Mfrs. Mills, seconded by <br /> Mlr. Caswell,to approve the minutes ofthe execut i e session held on July 11,2001. <br /> VOTE: Ire favor— Mr. Caswell, Mrs. Lopez, Mrs. Mills, and Mfrs. Reis; abstained — <br /> rs. Coop. <br /> IV, Public Forum Phyllis Sprout addressed the Committee regarding participation in the community-wide <br /> curriculum committees. She said she has not been inforrmed of these meetings. Mrs. <br /> Patricia Parolski addressed Mrs. Sprout statim at their meeting, the curriculum <br /> committee decided to bold a public meeting in March of each year. Although Mrs. <br /> Sprout stated she was never informed, Mrs. Pa.rlski said notices were placed in the <br /> local newspaper, telephone calls were made to Mrs. Sprout and Mrs. Cook and Mrs. <br /> Lopez each send letters to her. Mrs. Sprout said the letters did not address her <br /> concerns. Also, Mrs. Sprout said she is looking for on-going participation, not just one <br /> meeting a year. Mfrs. Cook said that due to Education Reform, the common core <br /> curriculum are lined up with the stag frameworks. <br /> After discussion, Mfrs. Cook asked Mfrs. Sprout to contact Mfrs. Parolki to review the <br /> minutes of previous curriculum meetings. <br /> Senior Class slice President Michael Lyons wanted to discuss the Future Business <br /> Leaders of America activity. Mfrs. Cook informed him that was a topic of discussion <br /> later in the meeting. <br /> Also, Michael Lyons said the Class of 2002 would like to continue with their plans for <br /> the Memorial Courtyard. He will contact Mr. Brown to set up a meeting with Business <br /> Administrator Michael Tarlow. <br /> V. Acknowledgments 5.1 March of Dimes l�alkAmrica dated July 9, 2001 — Mrs. Coop acknowledgedmembers of the Mashpee High School Key Club walk Team who made a generous <br /> donation $773). during the Falmouth WalkAmerica.2001. <br />
