'School Committee Policy Manual review—Mrs. Cook said she and Mrs. Reis <br /> would meet and discuss the procedure to be used in reviewing this manual. <br /> . "Funding Proposals andApplications" — Policy DD — Motion made by Mrs. <br /> Mills,seconded by Mr. Caswell,to approve this revised policy. <br /> VOTE; Unanimous <br /> C. New Business 10.1 100 1-2002 School C om m ittee Goals—At their"retreat" in August, the School <br /> Committee devised the following topics as their goals for the 2001-2002 school year: <br /> l Safety <br /> Facilities Financial Planning <br /> Guidance/Diversity and Sensitivity <br /> Use of Community Resources <br /> Morale, Decision-making <br /> Motion made by Mr. Caswell, seconded by Mrs. Mills, to approve the above-named <br /> goals for the'200 1-2002 school year. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Mrs. Reis asked to set up a "Safety" committee. Firs. Cook said anyone interested in <br /> setting up an action plan should contact her. <br /> Mr. Fluery thanked and com mended the ac rninistration and staff for the successful first <br /> clay opening on September `h for teachers. He noted the guest speaker, Dick Flavin, <br /> received a strong endorsement by the staff. Also, Mr. Fluery acknowledged wledged the <br /> smooth opening day for students on September ". <br /> X1, Committee Reports 11.1 Sub-Committee Reports <br /> 11.1.1 I e!zotiation — Mrs. Cook said this discussion will take place in executive <br /> session. <br /> 11.1.2 Hia.h School — Hia.h School Principal Ira Brown discussed the "Civil Rights <br /> Team'' program that would consist of two students from each grade -12 and two <br /> adults. This committee would attend an overnight retreat to learn about the program <br /> and be trained in peer leadership and conflict resolution. <br /> Mr. Brown also presented the New England Association of Schools and Colleges <br /> ZEAS Evaluation Visit. He noted representatives will be visiting the high school on <br /> March ,2003-March 26.2The role of this visiting committee will be t validate <br /> the high schools self-evaluation. <br /> Mr. Brown asked to have one School Committee member on the "Mission and <br /> Expectations"team. Mrs. Mills suggested that either Mrs. Cook or Mr. Caswell as they <br /> serve on the high school sub-committee. <br /> 11.1.2.1 Colo- Guard - fir. Brown then discussed the proposed Color Guard which <br /> would be recognized as an activity within the Marchinu. Band Program. The Color <br /> Guard would only participate in the fall season. After much discussion, Mrs. Mills <br /> made a motion to approve a Color Guard Advisor's position with a stipend of 5757. <br /> Her motion was seconded by Mrs. Reis. <br /> VOTE-., Unanimous � <br />
