MASPIPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> SPECIAL MEETING <br /> OCTOBER 1 , 2001 <br /> Minutes <br /> Attendees: Chairwoman Theresa Cook, Ben Caswell and Mo 11i e Reis. Janice Mills arrived at 6:45 p.m. <br /> Also in attendance were Superintendent of Schools Sherwood Flu ry and Business Administrator Michael <br /> Tarlow. <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order -- Mrs. Cook called the special meeting to order at 6:37 p.m. in the <br /> uashnet School Library. <br /> . Executive Session — Motion made by Mrs. Reis, seconded by Mr. Caswell, to move into <br /> executive session at 6:38 p.m. to discuss negotiations and personnel. <br /> Roll Call vote: In favor—Mrs.Cook, Mr. Caswell,and Mrs. Reis; opposed—none. <br /> The special meeting reconvened at 7:09 p.m. <br /> . FY02 Budget — Mr. Tarlow explained the FY02 budget as of October 10, 2001. During his <br /> presentation, Mr. Tarlow detailed the meed for the school department to purchase a software <br /> package (Micro Budget)that will assist and improve the Business Office in its day-to-day work. <br /> The cost of the software is approximately $7,000 and would be a `short-terra" solution until the <br /> town gets the school department on-line, projected to be July 2002. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Caswell, to approve approximately a $7,000 <br /> expenditure to purchase Micro Budget software. <br /> VOTE: UnanimoLI <br /> At this point, Mrs. Cook asked MaryRose Grady to give tier presentation on "SOS High School <br /> Suicide Prevention Program."' <br /> . SOS Health Screening— Mrs. Grady explained this is a program implemented by school health <br /> professionals that educates teenagers to the sign of suicide and outlines action steps for dealing <br /> with the mental health emergency of suicide. <br /> High School Principal Ira Brown endorsed Mrs. rady's inclusion of this program in the Health <br /> Advisory Council discussions as it falls into the"Safety"goal this year. <br /> Motion made by lir. Caswell, seconded by Mrs. Mills, to approve the `SOS High School Suicide <br /> Prevention Program."" <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br />
