MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE—REGULAR MEETING—APRIL 3,2002 PAGE 3 <br /> 5.6 Mr. Caswell acknowledged the International Night recently held at the <br /> Coombs School. <br /> VI. Communications There were no"Communications"this evening. <br /> VII. Student Advisory Student Advisory Council representative Kyle Hunt questioned the need for the <br /> Council new identification badges at the high school. He suggested the funds allocated for <br /> purchasing the ID system would be more beneficial if spent toward technology <br /> improvement, etc. Mrs.Cook reiterated that safety was the number one School <br /> Committee goal this year. <br /> Mrs. Cook asked the Committee's permission to move up 10.2, Summer School—Lou <br /> Ann St. Cyr. The Committee agreed. <br /> 10.2 Summer School—Lou Ann St.Cvr—Mrs. St. Cyr addressed the Committee <br /> regarding the Summer School program for this year. In her proposal,Mrs. St.Cyr <br /> informed the Committee of the following: <br /> Dates and times: July 8,2002-August 8,2002;Monday through Thursday <br /> from 7:30 a.m.-11:35 a.m. <br /> Pay rate: teacher-$25/hour;secretary-$8/hour <br /> Tuition: High School-$165/course for residents; $190/course for non- <br /> residents; $10 late registration fee <br /> • Elementary-$125/course for residents;$150/course for non-residents;$10 <br /> late registration fee <br /> Also,Mrs. St.Cyr recommended the Assistant Director will be full-time <br /> position and will assist the Director in the following areas: <br /> - Interviewing and hiring teachers <br /> - Setting curriculum and expectations with teachers <br /> - Conducting student registration <br /> - Receive and record tuition payments <br /> - Scheduling for teachers and students <br /> - Track weekly progress reports <br /> - Contacting parents(tuition, grades,attendance) <br /> - Administering day-to-day discipline <br /> - Write a final report of student grades for guidance records in and outside <br /> of the district <br /> The Assistant Director will work 25 days at$25/hour for a total of$2,500. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Mills,seconded by Mr. Thomas,to approve the Summer School <br /> program as proposed by Mrs. St.Cyr. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> 10.3 Summer Institute—Michael Forde was unable to attend tonight's meeting to <br /> address this summer program,but included in the packet were the programs. <br /> Motion made by Mrs.Mills,seconded by Mr. Caswell,to approve the Summer Institute <br /> as proposed. <br /> • VOTE: Unanimous <br />
