{ <br /> MASSE SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> FIRST EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> JANUARY 7,2002 <br /> Minutes <br /> Attendees: Chairwoman Theresa Cool, Ben Caswell, Mollie leis, Janice Mills, and Peter Thomas. Also in attendance <br /> were Superintendent of Schools Sherwood Flury and Business Administrator Michael Tarlow. Nigh School Principal Ira <br /> Brown was also in attendance for an issue. <br /> Mrs. Cook called the first executive session to order-at :40 p.m. in the Quashnet School Library. <br /> Topics ofdiscussion focused on the following: <br /> • A high school teacher's request for an extended leave of absence due to a family illness. The Committee <br /> granted Ruth Spivey an extended leave through the Family Medical Leave Act. <br /> Mr. Brown exited the executive session. <br /> • r. Fluery informed the Committee that a family attempted to enroll their child in the Quashnet School who <br /> was in the United States on a visa. Mr. Fluery contacted the School Attorney and an attorney at the <br /> Department of Education and it was determined that the student was not eligible to attend the Mashpee Public <br /> Schools. The student has withdrawn. <br /> • A request from lose Crosby, former Business Office Supervisor,was discussed regarding unused vacation <br /> days. <br /> M otion made by M r.Thomas, seconded by Mrs. MiIIs,to compensate Mrs.Crosby on a prorated basis for her <br /> unused vacation time that she accrued during her four-month tenure. <br /> loll Call Vote: In favor—Mr.Caswell, Mrs. Reis, Mrs. Mills, and Mr. Thomas;opposed—Mrs.Cool. <br /> Motion made by Mr.Caswell, seconded by Mrs. Deis,to adjourn the first executive session at 6:53 p.m. <br /> Roll Call Vote: In favor—Mrs. Cools, Mr.Caswell, Mrs. Reis, Mrs, M i1Is, and Mr, Thomas apposed—none. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> 4 <br /> Marjorie R.
