1ASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE—REGULAR MEETING—MAY 13 2002 PACE 2 3.8 First Executive Session —.April 2 , 2002 — Motion made by Mir-. Caswell, seconded by Mrs. Reis, to approve the minutes of the first executive session held on April 2 ,2002. VOTE: Unanimous . Second Executive Session.—.April 24, 2002 — Notion made by Mr. Caswell, seconded by Mr. Thomas, to approve the second executive session held on April 24, 2002. VOTE: Unanimous IV. Public Forum There was no public forum input this evening. V. Acknowledgments 5.1 Correspondence from Frank Schultz, NI AA, dated April 4., 2002 — Mrs. Cook read aloud a letter from Frank Schultz, Chairperson of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, regarding Athletic Director Michael Home's new designation as Certified Master Athletic Administrator. Mrs. Cook acknowledged the following students as Cape Cod Tunes All Stars: Bill Bellatty Boys Basketball Chad Laue Boys Basketball Honorable Mention Derek Murphy Boys Basketball Honorable Mention Tasha Lopez-Fitts Girls Basketball Megan Santos Girls Basketball Honorable Mention Shannon Merrifield Girls Basketball-Honorable Mention Mrs. Cook asked theCommittee's permission to move up the next four topics. The Committee agreed. 10.5 wastewater Correspondence from Fire I artm nt—Letter from Chief Baker dated April 23,2002—Chief Baker, accompanied by Marina Brock from the Barnstable County Health Department and Glen Harrington of Mashpe 's Health Deparatment, addressed the Committee to formally request permission to utilize the Mashpee High School Septic Treat Plant for disposal of"gray" water generated at the fire station. The "gray" water is the runoff from the washing of the department's vehicles. Chief Baker said recently the fire department had its 5,000- gallon washwater storage tank emptied and taken to Barnstable for disposal for a fee of$500. Chief Baker said the storage tank emptied about three to four tines a year and would be financially more sound to transport the wastewater to a local facility. The Committee agreed to work with Chief Baker but Mrs. Cook, once again, cautioned that the school's sewage treatment plant is not be suitable for washwater disposal as sewage is treated differently than washwater. 10.4 High School Science Fair — High School Science teacher Suzanne Avtges addressed the Committee on four research projects which were won by the following students: First Place- $1,500 scholarship from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute to Kyle Hunt for The Ideal Conditionsfor the Shipment of Opsanus Toru
