a • MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE—REGULAR MEETING—FEBRUARY 5. 2003 PAGE 11.2 External Reports 11.2.1 Cape_Cod Collaborative—Mr. Caswell said there was no meeting. 11.2.2 Leisure Services—Mr. Thomas reported the meeting was cancelled. 11.2.3 Safe Transl2ortation Task Force — Mr. Caswell said there was n meeting. 11.2.4 Affirmative Action Committee — Mrs. Lopez said there was no meeting,however, one will be held on February 12th. 11.2.5 Boosters Club — The Boosters meeting was held during the School Committee's finance meeting last month, therefore, Mr. Thomas and Mr. Caswell were not able to attend the Boosters meeting. T rrie Cook said the next meeting will be held on February 13th. Mrs. Cook also mentioned a fundraiser will be held on February 8h t 7:3 o p.m. at the Quashnet Valley Country Club to assist a family who recently lost their Lather. She said the Boosters Club also assists families in need. 11.2.6 Indian Education —Mrs. Lopez attended a meeting and said the Tribal Council will notify her when meetings are scheduled. There will be parent meeting on February 12''. 11.2.7 Health Advisory Committee — Mrs. Lopez said there has been no meeting. X11. Other Mr. Thomas commented on his support for looking in-house for talent and employees who work their way up the ranks within the school system. "1t sends a good message"' to other employees. He expressed his pleasure with tonight's appointment oflairs. Pair lsl i as 1 Ia h e 's Superintendent of Schools. He said, "We have somebody really special here in Mashpee", referring to Mrs. Parol is 26-year tenure and dedication to the Mashpee Schools who has worked her way up the ladder. 0 Mrs. Lopez echoed Mr. Thomas' opinions stating that Mrs. Parolsli"has done great job." Speaking as a Finance Committee member and the FY04 budget constraints facing the town, Mrs. Cook asked the School Committee to cone up with more "creative ways"to save money in the upcoming budget.
