MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> APRIL 30,2003 <br /> SPECIAL MEETING <br /> Minutes <br /> Attendees: Chairman Janice Mills, Mollie Reis, and D nnaJean Lopez. Ben Caswell arrived at 6:13 p.m. Peter <br /> Thomas was absent this evening. Also in attendance was Superintendent of Schools Patricia Parlsli. <br /> Call Meeting to Order—Mrs. Mills called the special meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Office of the <br /> Superintendent in the Quashnet School. <br /> . FY04 Budget - Mrs. Par lski informed the Committee ofdiscussions held with the Administrative <br /> Roundtable this week regarding the FY04 budget which i 16,784,751. She stressed there are some major <br /> areas regarding special education costs for next year that will have to he addressed. <br /> . Elimination of Positions—Due to the financial crisis the school department faces next year, elimination of <br /> two positions were proposed. They were: the Business Administrator and the Administrator of Curriculum <br /> and Instruction. . <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Lopez,seconded by Mrs. Reis,to eliminate the Business Administrator's position. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Lopez, seconded by Mrs. Reis, to eliminate the Administrator of Curriculum and <br /> Instruction. <br /> Mrs. Mills said the elimination of the Administrator of Curriculum and Instruction position does not <br /> eliminate the on-going curriculum programs and their respective cycles. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> . Other—Mrs. Par lsl i discussed a town-wide food drive in conjunction with the"No Place for Hate"theme <br /> devised by the Affirmative Action Committee. That Committee asked ed t place food donation bins its each <br /> school. Town Hall and the Tribal Council will each have a bin. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Lopez,seconded by Mrs. Reis,to puce a bin in each school for the <br /> food drive donation campaign. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Finance Committee member Terrie Cook reminded all to attend the Town Meeting slated for May 5, 2003 <br /> at :30 p.m. in the Quashn t School gymnasium and support the budget. <br /> . Adjournment — Motion made by Mrs. Reis, seconded by Mrs. Lopez, to adjourn the spec ia.l meeting at <br /> 6:17 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Marjorie R.
