The Committee agreed. <br /> 8.7 Summer School Update — outgoing Summer School Director- Mrs. <br /> St,Cyd reported on. this surnmer's program which was held from Jul} 7- <br /> August 7, 2003. Sixty four students enrolled and took 81 classes in <br /> academic areas such 'as English, Math, Social Sciences and Science. Mrs. <br /> St. Cyr gave kudos. to Assistant Director Matt Triveri and Kelly Duchemin <br /> who served as the Summer School secretary. <br /> Unfortunately, due t its low enrollment,the.El mentary Summer School <br /> Program did not rule this year. However,tutoring was provided for the three <br /> Grade 6 students who applied. <br /> 8.8 Prop sal for an After-School Alternative Program —-High School — <br /> Mr. Brown addressed.the.Committee on this proposal which identifies the <br /> . need for an additional-altern t.iv education program in grades -12. This <br /> program would work-with special education and regular education students <br /> who are having_discipline problems in and OL[t of the classroom or do not <br /> attend school regularly. The Child Study Team recommended n alternative <br /> program that is offered during after-school hours utilizing Class.com. <br /> After discussion, Mr. Brown said he would provide the Committee with the <br /> entrance and exit criteria as well as the start time and ending time at the <br /> October regular meeting. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Cook, seconded by Mr-s. Mills,to approve the After- <br /> School Alternative Program as presented. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> .9 Update on E-H ili Notices from School — Mrs. Cook had <br /> questioned this concept at a previous School Committee meeting. Network <br /> Administrator Joe AL[genblick said each school has the capability of sending <br /> e-mails hone. He said all that is needed are the -mail addresses. <br /> Ix. Specifically Assigned/ There were no issues under this agenda item. <br /> Unfinished Business <br /> X. New Business There were no issues under this agenda item. <br /> XI. Committee Reports 11.1 Sub-Com m ittee.Reports <br /> 1 1.1.1 Negotiations—Mrs. Cook said Unit C is settled pending ratification. <br /> 11.1.2 Hi gh School—Discussed earlier in the me ting. Next high school <br /> meeting is scheduled for October 1, 2003. <br /> 1.1.1.3 Elementary School—Mr. Thomas said there has been no meeting. <br />
