i MASHP E SCHOOL COMMITTEE FINANCE MEETING FEBRUARY 25, 2004 Minutes Attendees: Chairman Peter Thomas, Terrie Cook, I onnaJean Lopez, Janice Mills and Moll Reis. Also in attendance were Superintendent of Schools Patricia Par l l i and Business Office Supervisor Elien Ferguson. 1. Call Meeting to Order — Mr. Thomas called the finance meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Office of the Superintendent located in the Quashnet School. Executive Session --Motion made by Mrs. Lopez, seconded by 1r . Reis, to move into the first executive session at 6:31 p.m. for the purpose of personnel and negotiations. Roll Call Vote: In favor — Mr. Thomas, Mrs.. Cool, Mrs. Lopez, Mrs. Mills, and Mrs. Reis- opposed—none. The finance meeting reconvened at 7:07 p.m. . Coombs School Council — FY05 Budget — Coombs School Principal Louise Doyle introduced the members of the Coombs School Council who attended the meeting. They were: Carol MacRae, Becky Romkey, Patricia l artolom i, J. R. Mell, David P c nett, Allison Robbins, Daren Tessi ini, Maria Martone and Jen LaFav r. Each member of the School Council addressed next year's budget and the ram ifi cation s of possible cuts. . FY05 Budget Update—1 r. Thomas reported on a meeting held this morning with himself, Mrs. Cook, Mrs. P r lsl i, Mrs. Ferguson, Selectmen Iden M r tens, David Reveille, and Town Administrator Joyce Mason. At that meeting, the FY05 level-funding efforts made by the school's administrators were discussed. Mr. Thomas said the current FY04 budget is 16,384,751 and the FY05 budget has $700,000 in contractual obligations. After more discussion on the FY05 budget, Mrs. Mills made a motion to request an FY05 school department budget of$17,200,000. Mrs. Cook seconded the motion. VOTE: Unanimous . FY04 Budget Update — Mrs. Ferguson updated the Committee on the latest FY04 budget. figures. In her monthly report, Mrs. Ferguson notes that the MUNIS payroll conversion is on- going. . Other—There were no issues under"Other"this evening. . Executive Session—Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Lopez,to move into a second executive session for the purpose of personnel and negotiations at 8:05 p.m. Roll Call Vote: In favor — Mr. Thomas, Mrs. Cool, Mrs. Lopez, Mrs. Mills, and Mrs. leis; opposed—none.
