IA HPE SCHOOL COMMITTEE-FINANCE I IEEUNG-MAY 18, 2004 PAGE 81 Volunteer Brunch — Tuesday, June 8, 2004 — Mrs. Par lski reiterated that the Committee is hosting the Annul volunteer Brunch on Tuesday, June 8th t the Coonamesset Inn in Falmouth commencing at 10:00 a.m. . Status of Police Grant—Mrs. Parolski updated the Committee n the proposed School Resource Officer grant. She thanked Chief Cooper, Deputy Chief Todlno, Lt. Dead, Sgt.I_mina and school administrators for their efforts in devising this grant. She also thanked the Board of Selectmen for supporting this grant which would be a three-year grant through the Mashpee Police Department. The Town of Mashpee would pick up the grant in the fourth year. 1f approved,the response time will probably be sometimein August. 1 , other— Mr. Brown discussed a proposal where lashpe would become a service provider of lass.Com for the Cape &. Islands and for a home schooling program. He explained the following: Presently we pay $225 per seat for Class.Com. with the purchase of 300 seats, this cost would be reduced t $125 per seat. The cost to Mashpee is $37,500. Mashp e will need to sign a license agreement for use ofa Website known n as"Blackboard"" in order to run Class.Com with a high user rate. The cost is 10,000 for 200 students on the server at one time. The total cost to provide Class.Com i $47,500 Mr. Brown explained ow the 1 ashpee School District would pay for being the provider. In the end,the total estimated i ncom e would be $5 1,400.00. Mrs. Cook stressed this program would not be adding any teachers but rather rearranging current employees. Mrs. Hills requested a copy of the contract and review by Attorney Butler before any further action. Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Lopez, to ask Attorney Butler receive and review the Class.Com contract. VOTE: Unanimous Mrs. Cook asked the Committee to ponder, prior to the June 2d regular m etin , any possible conflicts with school activities for neat school year and School Committee regular and finance meetings. Regular meetings are slated for the first Wednesday of each month while the finance meetings are scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month.
