S <br /> 1 IASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE—REGULAR AND FINANCE MEETING JULY 14, 2004 PAGE <br /> IV. Public Forum Patricia Moran-Nye—Coombs School Nurse Patricia Moran-Nye addressed <br /> the Committee regarding the current Epi-pen policy. She reiterated once again, <br /> and had received statements from professionals in the medical field, indicating <br /> that CPR training is not necessary for the administration of an epi-pen. Mrs. <br /> Lopez and Mr. Thomas maintain the need for having CPR-trained staff t <br /> administer epi-pens <br /> The School Committee's policy on epi-pen administration will be discussed <br /> later in the meeting. <br /> Juane Kombert from the Mashpee Educational Coalition spoke on their behalf <br /> regarding the fund-raiser they held at Roche Bros. last week. A total of$4,1 <br /> was raised and will be divided among the Mashpee Public Schools. <br /> V. Acknowledgments There were n "Acknowledgments"made this evening. <br /> VI. Communications There were no"Communications""t the Committee included in the packet. <br /> VII. Student Advisory Because of the summer months upon us, the next report from the Student <br /> Council Advisory Council will be in October <br /> Mrs. Cook moved up 9.1, "Preschool/Head Start Classroom (Space)-- Coombs <br /> School," 1 . , "2004-2015 School Year Athletics," and 8.5, "History and <br /> Social Sciences Curriculum, Pr -K -- Grade 12." Special Education <br /> Administrator Jane Badin discussed the restructuring of the preschool for <br /> FY 5. Its goal is to restructure the three preschool classrooms at the Coombs <br /> School to create more equitable inclusion classrooms addressing the needs of <br /> all children entering our preschool program. Mrs. B audin described the <br /> objectives as follows: <br /> create three similar preschool programs <br /> create three equitable inclusion classrooms <br /> • plan for proper service delivery through the classroom teacher and a <br /> special education liaison <br /> • provide peer models in all classrooms <br /> create thee age-appropriate classrooms <br /> • truly integrated preschool programs with the K-1 2 programs(not a <br /> separate entity) <br /> • address staff burnout due to intensive needs <br /> increase enrollment slightly <br /> ensure that there is no additional cast to the district <br /> Staffing will include 3.0 classroom teachers and 3.5 paraprofessionals for this <br /> program which is fully funded by the Community Partnership Council grant. <br /> After more discussion, a motion vas made by Mrs. Lopez, seconded by Mrs. <br /> Reis,to approve the preschool restructuring for F 5. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br />
