MA HPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> FINANCE MEETING <br /> FEBRUARY 16,, 2005 <br /> Minutes <br /> i I <br /> Attendees: Chairman Theresa Cook, Molle Deis, Janice Mills, and Peter Thomas. D nnaJean Lopez <br /> was unable to attend tonight's meeting. Also in attendance were Superintendent of Schools Patricia <br /> Paro I sk l and Business Administrator Peter Roche. <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order — Mrs. Gook called the finance meeting order at 6:35 p.m. in the <br /> Quashnet School Library. <br /> Mrs. Cook thanked the parental support shown at the joint FY06 budget meeting with the Board <br /> f Selectmen and Finance Committee on February 14, 2005. i <br /> I <br /> . Business Administrator's Report— <br /> . Mr. Roche discussed the current status of the school department's FY05 budget. He reported the <br /> utility costs to date and projections are currently within the budget; maintenance overtime <br /> currently has a small deficit due to the recent snowstorms — he will monitor and adjust a <br /> necessary; special education tutor costs may have to be supplemented with Circuit Breaker funds; <br /> sufficient FY05 Circuit Breaker funds are still available to cover special education tuition <br /> deficits; costs incurred from a recent legal settlement are included in the budget. He thanked <br /> Assistant Town Treasurer Dawn n Thayer for her assistance this week with the budget transfers. � <br /> Ir. Roche expressed concern about the substitute accounts at this point but he'll discuss i n detail <br /> next month. The snow removal costs after the recent blizzard of "05 were forwarded to Town <br /> Accountant Judie Hunter. <br /> .1 FY05 Budget Transfers — Mr. Roche explained the budget transfers as shown i <br /> Exhibit A. <br /> Motion made by liths. Reis, seconded by Mrs. Mills, to approve FY05 budget transfer <br /> 05-80-3 in the amount of$9,511.79. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mfrs. Reis, to approve journal entry # 05-80-4 <br /> in the amount of$2,524.20. This was a journal entry error. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> . FY06 Budget Update T Mr. Roche described the FY06 budget stating the School Committee's <br /> initial request was in the amount of $19,585,363 which includes capital improvement ent funds <br /> totaling $241,262 (technology, $75,000; software, $42,000; flooring and the Coombs and <br /> Quashnet Schools, $124,262) and $465,486 in grant-funded positions. However, the Town <br /> Manager and Torn Accountant recommended eliminating these two totals thus reducing the <br /> budget t $18,878,615. In her FY06 budget recommendation., Mrs. Mason is suggesting <br /> $17,494,,293 a 3% increase over the FY05 budget). <br />
