MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> May 2, 2007 <br /> Minutes <br /> Attendees: Chairman 11 ary ose Grady, Beeby Rorn ey, and Janice Mills. Bili McNamara was unable to <br /> attend tonight's meeting. Also its attendance were Superintendent of Schools Ann Bradshaw and School <br /> Business Administrator Ira Brown. <br /> I. Call Meeting to Order Mrs. Grady called the regular meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. in the <br /> uashnet School Library. <br /> II. Executive Session Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Romkey to move into <br /> executive session at 6:36 p.m. for the purpose of litigation and <br /> negotiations. <br /> Roll Call vote: In favor- Mrs. Grady, Mrs. Fornke , Mrs. Mills; <br /> Opposed-none. <br /> The regular meeting reconvened at 7:15 p.m. <br /> Mrs. Grady discussed the Blanket and Books Campaign at the Quashnet School. She explained that Mrs. <br /> Maureen Scozzari, the Quashnet School Nurse, and Mrs. Ellen Waechter, the &hool Administrative <br /> Secretary, carne up with the idea and contacted Children's Hospital. Mrs. Waechter recruited Mrs. <br /> Darlene Phelan to hold a blanket making session with staff. There was also a workshop held with students. <br /> Those items will be donated to Children's Hospital. Mrs.Grady thanked everyone who participated. <br /> III. Approval of <br /> Minutes 3.1 Regular Meeting-January 31. 2107- Motion made by Mrs.'Mills, <br /> seconded by Mrs. Rornkey, to approve the minutes of the regular <br /> Meeting held on January 31,2007. <br /> Iv. Public Forum Mr. Gasior commended Mr. Brown for a good job and having a good <br /> sense of the town-school relationship. Mr. Gasior stated that he is <br /> read} to work with the school on'recycling. Mr. Gasior also spoke of <br /> the wind turbines, and mentioned that it would take 4-5 years for the <br /> town to get back their initial investment. Lastly, Mr. Gaior suggested <br /> that he would like to see an excel spreadsheet with an updated table of <br /> employees and their salaries at each meeting. <br /> Due to time constraints Mrs. Grady moved up the following item. <br /> X. Report of the Superintendent <br /> 10.6 DC Travelers Presentation- Ir. Babbitt spoke about the recent <br /> eighth grade trip to Washington D.C. A total of 134 students attended <br /> the trip. Where were a total of 44 students who did not go on the trip, <br /> and these students had various activities and work to complete during <br /> this time. A video of the trip, made by Mr. Looney and Mr. Joia was <br /> shown. Michelle Lopez and Teddy Purdy, two eighth grade students, <br /> spoke about the trip. Ms. Lopez read an essay she had written and Mr. <br /> Puny gave his account of the trip. Mr. Brian Hyde spore about the <br /> continued success of the trip and that over 1100 Mashpee students have <br /> now attended this trip. Mr. Hyde informed the Committee that he was <br /> considering March 16-20, 2008 for the next trip. He stated that this <br /> date was selected due to the low traffic and least amount of cost.
