School committee sets policy; administration implements policy. <br /> Administrators have the right to review evidence and ensure due process but cannot overturn <br /> policy. <br /> Gather data to examine equitable distribution of discipline. <br /> Superintendent will advise school committee of appeals as they occur. <br /> Policy defined: standards and directions with general applications. <br /> Procedure defined: The implementation steps of a policy. <br /> There is a natural tension between school committees and administrators about the definition and <br /> implementation of policy. <br /> If there is a gray area, discuss it. <br /> B. Communication <br /> Decisions should be made at the lowest level <br /> Follow the communication process-principal, superintendent, school committee. <br /> Encourage problem solving and identification of issues at the building level <br /> School committee understands that grievances/discomfort/grumbling are a part of the change <br /> process. <br /> Plan a joint meeting with an agenda and an objective: school committee, administrators, <br /> association. <br /> The school committee/admin group should maintain focus on children in public-change is for ' <br /> the betterment of the education of children. <br /> Ann-inform school attorney that the school committee intends to present and support the <br /> MHS standards and expectations. what are the risks?
