MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> FINANCE MEETING <br /> January 1 , 2008 <br /> Minutes <br /> Attendees: Chairman I aryl os Grady, Ralph Mar elli, Kathy Stanley, and Richard <br /> Bailey. Janice Mills was absent this evening. Also in attendance Frere Superintendent of <br /> Schools, Ann Bradshaw, and Business Administrator, Patricia Lugo. <br /> I, Call Meeting to Order <br /> Mrs. Grady called meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. in the Quashnet School Library. <br /> II, Execrative Session <br /> Mr. Bailey made a motion, seconded by Mr. Marcelli to move into executive <br /> session at 6:36 p.m. <br /> Roll Call Vote: In favor- Mrs. 'Grady, Mr. Mareelli, Mrs. Stamey and Mr. Bailey; <br /> opposed- none. <br /> Themeeting reconvened at '7:1 o p.m. <br /> III. Approval of Minutes <br /> Mr. Bailey made a motion, seconded by Mr. Mareelli'to approve the School <br /> Committee Budget Sub-Committee minutes of December 6, 2007. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Iv. Energy Education Presentation <br /> Mr. Tripp made a PowerPoint presentation about Energy Education. To date we <br /> have cost-avoided approximately $187,748. There was discussion regarding cost <br /> avoidance vs. actual dollar savings, and how this impacts the Budget. Mrs. <br /> Bradshaw explained that this cost avoidance is taken into consideration for Budget <br /> planning. Mrs. Grady suggested correcting the language in the Energy Education <br /> Guidelines Policy EB CF. The policy currently reads 'to lover substantially <br /> energy', which should be changed to 'substantially lover energy.' The last <br /> sentence reacts, 'direct monitor', which should he changed to 'direct, monitor'. Mr. <br /> Mareelli suggested looking at changing the wording in the policy from should <br /> to shall. <br /> V. Business Administrators Report <br /> .1 FY08 Year-to-Date Bud et Report <br /> Ms. Lugo discussed this report. She stated that currently there is $10,252,000 <br /> remaining in the FY08 budget and 49.3% of the budget has been used to date. <br /> 5.2 Status of Grants <br /> IIs. Lugo reviewed this report that was completed by Ellen Bankston. Mr. <br /> Mareelli noted that the Munis # on the first item was incorrect. <br /> School Committee Finance Meeting 01-16-081 <br />
