There was discussion as to whether or not 7th and 8th grade would have enough time t <br /> get 4 to 5 sports up and running by August. 1t was decided that Mr. Horne would attend <br /> Step Up light and find out interest levels for sports. <br /> Mrs. Grady stated that in her discussion with Mr. Home it was projected to cost $15,000- <br /> $25,000 <br /> to develop a fair level of teams for 7 to & 8t" grade. <br /> Mrs. Mills made a motion, seconded by Mr. M rcelli, that the Committee is committed to <br /> full-fledged 7th & 8th grade program for in school and after school activities. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Ms. Suzanne Avtges stated that it would not be feasible to have theatre for 7th and 8th <br /> grade. <br /> The Committee stated that the line was clearer on athletics than other activities. <br /> It was decided that the Committee needs more information and asked ed Mr. Babbitt to see <br /> hat could be set u . <br /> Mr. Babbitt spore about restructuring and the open forum that was held. He stated that <br /> some of the things the Middle School hoped to accomplish are: <br /> 0 Signage for the middle school <br /> • Different tones for hells <br /> a Minimal crossover for staff <br /> 0 Grade specific staff <br /> • Web page/news letter <br /> School Council, mission statement, school improvement ent plan, and PTO <br /> Administration and Guidance office ill remain the same <br /> There was discussion to have the Middle School have its oven entrance and to change <br /> parking. The biggest challenge is the Science labs which are located on the second floor. <br /> VIII. Communications <br /> There were no communications this evening. <br /> IX. Student Advisory Council <br /> Ashley Souza spoke about the following items; <br /> • Job Fair on 4130108 <br /> • ram <br /> After prom party <br /> P Exams <br /> Day of Silence to support the Gay/Straight alliance <br /> School Committee Regular Meeting 5/7/08 4 <br />
