5 School Committee Reeular Meetrn Minutes 8/19/09 'resent were: Richard Bailey, Mar, ose Grady, Kathy Stanley and Janice Mills. Also in attendance was Ann Bradshaw, Superintendent of Schools 1. Call Meeting to Order Mr. Bailey called the meeting to order at 6:30prn. II, Executive Session Mrs. Grady made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Mills to move into Executive Session for the purpose of personnel, negotiation and litigation. Vote: Unanimous Mr. Bailey called the meeting back to order at :2 pm. Mr. Bailey announced that Jose Franco was selected as the new member of the School Committee. 1111. *Recommendation tion o Business n nistr for Mrs. Mara Hortaridis was recommended to he appointed to the position of Business Manager. Mrs. Hortaridis gave a brief overview of her qualifications. No vote was taken. IV. Public Forum Suzanne Avtges, VITA president gave a statement regarding the Reads Program that would be implemented this year for schools as well as the entire Mashpee Community. Details are still being worked out. V, LARProval o Minutes Mrs. Mills made a notion, seconded by liths. Stanley to approve the minutes of Jove 15, 2009. Vote.- Unanimous nimous Mrs. Mills made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Stanley to approve the minutes of June 26, 2009. Vote: All in favor- Mrs. Mills, Mrs. Stanley and Mr. Bailey. Mrs. Grady abstained. VI. Acknowledgements 6.1 welcome new school committee member Mr. Bailey put welcoming the new school committee member on hold until the next meeting. 6.2 Memo from Quashnet School for donations A memo from Mrs. DeBoer, Principal and Mrs. Arnold, Assistant Principal of the Quashnet School thanking the following companies for the support of their after-school enrichment programs: Roche Brothers, New Balance and Carol J. DeVincent. 1
