Policy Sub-Committee <br /> School Committee <br /> May 2, 2011 <br /> Minutes <br /> Present at the meeting were: School Committee Vice Chair Kathy Stanley, and <br /> Superintendent Ann Bradshaw. <br /> The meeting began at 12:00 p.m. in the Superintendent's'office. <br /> The Energy Management Conservation Policy guidelines were reviewed. Concerns about <br /> cold temperatures in the schools have been ongoing. To address these concerns, the <br /> guidelines for temperature ranges need to be revised. In addition, the Bureau o <br /> Environment Health conducted an Indoor Air Quality assessment, of Mashpee Nigh <br /> School in January 2011. The report includes recommendations that have ramifications <br /> for the guidelines. <br /> There was discussion of allowing non-resident students of staff members to attend the <br /> Mashpee Public Schools The policy subcommittee reviewed policies from other districts. <br /> It was determined that some policies components that may be useful include: <br /> Children in good standing academically and behaviorally may enroll tuition-free <br /> on a space available'basis. <br /> 0 A student in good standing may continue with his or her education in the district, <br /> regardless of the employment status of the parent or space availability. <br /> 9 lion-resident children of employees are admitted on a space available basis. <br /> The application deadline is April 1; parents aro informed by June 1. <br /> The admissions contract, along with a non-refundable deposit on the <br /> materials fee, must be submitted no later than June 15. <br /> 0 Some districts charge fees, ranging from 10% of the per pupil expenditure (about <br /> $11400) to the full per pupil expenditure (about 1 , 0 . <br /> Districts that receive students in the school choice program require enrollment <br /> through choice. <br /> The enrollment of non-resident children requires the recommendation of the <br /> superintendent and approval of the school committee, <br /> The discussion of the staff recognition program was deferred for additional study. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 1:30 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Awn Bradshaw <br /> Dist of Documents <br /> Sample policies for admitting non-resident students of staff to attend school <br /> Policy EBCF- Guidelines for Energy Conservation <br /> Indoor Air Quality report <br />
