The Sped saved diem in other categories. <br /> There was discussion concerning taking the Sped account out of the School Budget and <br /> making Sped a separate line item. The School Committee members and Dr.Dell oura noted <br /> that year after year,money is taken out of the building maintenance fund or general education <br /> fond to pay for additional expenses in Special Education. <br /> Thr.DeMbura noted that now a regulation is being reviewed by the Legislature which would <br /> require that the child should be placed in Massachusetts special education schools before you <br /> go out of state. This regulation will affect the Sped account. <br /> Kathleen n Lynch informed the Finance ConuTAttee of what the State is looking at in that <br /> anything over$15,000 spent for a Special Education student, 90%of that would b <br /> reimbursed by the Mate. She stated that this would be a tremendous help. <br /> FINANCE COMMITTEE LIAISON To SCHOOL COMMITTEE: <br /> Mr. Golub noted that at the last Finance Committee meeting,the possibility of setting up a <br /> liaison with the School Committee specifically for budgetary purposes,was discussed. This <br /> would be for.participating in the budgetary process at a much earlier and much deeper level <br /> -than we have-in the-past.
