i <br /> Municipal Property Tax fates in Barnstable County,Fiscal Years 1990-96. <br /> Chairman watt noted that this sheet is a comparison of tax rates. Mr. Goggin received the <br /> most recent publication of the Massachusetts Department of Revenue"City&Town"in <br /> which the 1997 tax rate is published. Mr. Goggin noted the 1997 Tax bates as follows: <br /> Barnstable $12.09 <br /> Bourne $12.53 <br /> Brewster $13.10 <br /> Chatham $8.92 <br /> Dennis $8.53 <br /> Eastham $11.5 <br /> Falmouth $11.18 <br /> Harwich $11.80 <br /> Ma.shpee $14.25 <br /> Orleans $9:81 <br /> Prointown $11.40 <br /> Sandwich $x.5.80 <br /> Truro $7.20 <br /> ''el.lfleet $8.67 <br /> Yarmouth $x.2.00 <br /> Mr. Goggin stated that the Board Secretary should request a copy of the"City&'Town"for <br /> each of the Finance Committee members and have it sent to their home address. In addition, <br /> the publication"Association of Town Finance Committees Newsletter"was requested to b <br /> received by the Finance Committee members. The Board Seuetary stated that she will <br /> submit the names in order to receive the publications. <br /> Memorandum to All Departments from Robert L.whr~itenour,Executive Secretary, <br /> regarding the Fiscal Year 1999 Budget Materials. <br /> Chairman watt stated that the budget materials went out. On the Budget Calendar,the <br /> budgets will be in January 5, 1998,and the Finance Committee will be receiving them <br /> shortly thereafter. <br /> Mr. Golub stated that the Finance Committee should find out about the funding of the Fire <br /> Station and debt exclusion. Also in reference to the roads,whether they are looking for a i <br /> million dollars over the next three years. <br /> Mr. Goggin noted that the Town Meeting is the fust Monday in May and the Finance <br /> Com ,i,tt c has to submit to the public a written document prior to the Town Meeting. This <br /> would be the delivery by marl to the Town. Mr. watt stated that the time frame for this <br /> document is the third Monday prior to the Town Meeting. Mr. Goggin noted that this date <br /> should be added to the Budget Calendar. <br /> Mr. Goggin commented that the Special Town Meeting is noted as the day after the Annual <br /> Town Meeting rather than the sane day. <br /> There was discussion among the Finance Committee members regarding the School Budget, <br /> the Selectmen recommendations and the Finance Committee recommendations. <br /> Mr. Goggin noted that he thinks the basis for the Finance Committee argument is really the <br /> Long Range Flan. By going through the Long Range Plan and publicizing that and showing <br /> this is what we can mord,the message is out. <br /> i <br />
