Mrs. Goulart questioned Mr. Long what the additional$4,900 under the line item of Council <br /> on Aging P T Drivers is for. Nor.Long informed the Finance Committee that last year,the <br /> driver's were partially funded through a grant. This year,they are not covered through the <br /> fit. <br /> FINANCE COMMITTEE BUDGET REVIEW: <br /> The Finance Committee members reviewed the Town of Mashpee Budget Report,Preliminary <br /> Budget#2,dated February 5, 1998. For recommendations by the Finance Committee,refer to <br /> "Town of Mashpee,Finance Committee BudgetReport„for X99(Revision I)",dated <br /> 2/26/98, submitted as part of these minutes. <br /> Chairman watt noted that in regards to Communication Expense for all the departments,h <br /> verified that all communications which were reduced in the department budgets were added <br /> into Town Hall Expense in an equal amount. He noted that in answer to the question which <br /> the Finance Committee had on the Selectmen Communication,this Communication Expense <br /> is not for telephone--it is for postage and that was always under Town Hall Expense. <br /> Personnel Department Budget: <br /> Chairman watt noted that several departments had requests in for full-tune or part{-time <br /> clerks. He said it had been suggested that there be a full-time floating clerk under Personnel <br /> Salary. 1n addition, there is a request for the part-time clerk presently in Personnel to go t i <br /> full-time. <br /> t <br /> Chairman watt noted that the line item for Personnel Full Time Salary PAP is going to be an <br /> additional$20,000 for an additional full-tune floating clerk. Mr. Golub noted that on the line <br /> item for Personnel Full Time Salary PAP,there is a Selectmen recommendation that.i <br /> $20,000 higher than the Department request. This additional,$20,000 is for a full-time <br /> floating clerk that will be utilized to fill in for the various departments who requested <br /> additional clerks, such as Building,Police, Treasurer, Council on Aging,and <br /> Zoning/Appeals. <br /> The additional$11,359 is for the part-time clerk presently worng 19 hours a week to <br /> increase to full-time worng 37-1/2 hours per week. This additional$11,359 does not <br /> include the berets. The benefits would be approximately$6,000 to$7,000. <br /> Motion to accUt Floating Clerk to service De art ents: <br /> Nor. Golub made a notion that the Finance Committee <br /> wept the concept of the Floating Clerk to service the various <br /> departments,which is included in the Personnel Full Time <br /> Salary Pap,Line 0040,in the amount of$65,548. <br /> Motion second by Mrs. Goulart. <br /> Approved: Golub, Goulart,Kumin, Cleary, Gallo, watt <br /> Opposed: Goggin <br /> Vote: Passed. 6 Approved/l.
