U <br /> 2 <br /> Town pays %. Nis. Shaw noted that the FY2000 Budget bequest in the amount of <br /> $L3205000 is prjected based on what they are spending now. There was discussion as to the <br /> number of teachers that will be added for next year. Mr. Golub suggested that the School <br /> should be asked what their projected increase is for teachers for next year in order to help <br /> with the Medical Insurance projection. Ms. Shaw said that she will call the School <br /> Superintendent and request a number from hire. <br /> Mr.Kumin questioned Ms. Shaw on the increase in the FY2000 Budget Request for County <br /> Retirement. Its. Shaw stated that the total cost for every town went up. She stated that she <br /> will give the Finance Committee members a copy of the formula from tete County which <br /> shows hove they arrivc at the figure. This is the Mashpee town share of the cost. She noted <br /> that the percent Mashpee pays of the total cost is based on Mashpee's total pay. <br /> BUDGET REVIEW - WAYNE DUCHEMIN, ECONOMIC <br /> DEVELOPMENT COORDINATORd <br /> Mr. Wayne Duch min, Coordinator,Economic Development,was present to dismiss his <br /> Fiscal Year 2000 Budget Request. Mr.Duchen in was originally schcdul d to discuss,his <br /> budget with the Finance Committee on Tuesday,March 1.6; however,due to a <br /> miscommunication on the date,he will be presenting his budget this Tuesday,February 16. <br /> Mr. Duchemin noted that listed in his Budget Expense Breakdown are two items which will <br /> be corning out of the Economic Development budget,as per his meeting with 1r. whriteour <br /> —Computer Replacement in the amount of$2,500 and Computer Consultation in the amount <br /> Of$IV500. <br /> Chairwoman Goulart questioned Mr.Duchemin on the Fiscal Year 2000 Budget Request for <br /> Purchase of Services,Reference#1220, in the amount$20,000. Mr.Duchemin noted that the <br /> amount will be an-increase of approximately$6,000 from last-year. He stated that they are <br /> preparing for the Business Forwn 99 which will be coming out in September. He stated that <br /> they have to begin developing the business profiles that they want to reach out to and bring <br /> into Mashpee. He added that this will require putting together a presentation and mailings. <br /> Mr.Duchemin informed the Finance Conunittee that if all goes well and according to plan, <br /> the Economic Development mice/Structure as it is now will no longer exist and will b <br /> under the Economic Development Industrial Corporation(EDIC). Subsequently, it will be a <br /> private, non-profit organization that will be responsible for developing economic development <br /> for-the-T own of Mashpee. There will be budget requests; however,the requests will not be in <br /> the way they are o curring now. He noted that this has not been worked out yet. He stated <br /> that if the Town approves this at May Town Meeting,this is the last time he will cone as an <br /> office of the Town. <br /> Mr. Duchemin commented that they are now at the nw eting part of the Economic <br /> Development program. He stated that they have set up programs and now they want to move <br /> on and begin to present Mashpee in a positive light-and bring the kinds of businesses that are <br /> able to develop into some good paying jobs in town. <br />
