4 Board of Selectmen Minutes March 26, 2018 ------------------- COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE Fetter from Triple M re: Medical Marijuana DispensaM Correspondence was received from.the Triple M l ashpee, Medical Marijuana Dispensary dated March 1% 2018 announcing the scheduled opening date on Thursday, April 5, 2018. Initially a three day week schedule 'is proposed on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. NEW BUSINESS Discussion about i ital Marquee at lash ee Hiah School and Route 1 1• 11 ashpee School Su erintendent Patricia DeBoer: = Patricia DeBoer, Superintendent of Schools was in attendance to gain input from the Board of Selectmen on the Route 151 signage. The primary purpose of updating the sign with a digital version would allow for increased visibility with safe remote computer generated alterations. The School Superintendent indicated she has discussed this proposal with the Design Review Committee and anticipates meeting with the Zoning Board of Appeals to obtain a special permit. Although it was revealed under the Town's Sign Bylaw there is an exemption for signs erected by governmental agencies. Therefore, the School Depwiment would be excused from zoning requirements. A proposed schematic design of the intended signage to be internally illuminated was included in the informational handout. The sign would display Pre-K through Grade 12 Mashpee public School events and messages. Mashpee Police, Fire and Town Officials would also have the ability to post emergency alerts, announcements and/or messages on the digital marquee for the benefit of Mashpee residents and its visitors. 1t was noted the sign is approximately 17"higher than the current 20 square foot configuration. In considering the proposed dimensions, it was agreed the signage should remain in its current layout. Fundraising and use of the existing school budget is under consideration for the purchase of the digital marquee at the l ashpee Middleffligh School site location off Route 15 1. Lotion made by Selectman Cotton to support the Town Use Sign situated on School property subject to approval from the Design Review Committce. Motion seconded by Selectman Gottlieb.
