1 IASHPEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES TUESDAY, MARCH 25, 2003 Present: Chairman, Carlton Meredith Dean Arden, Jeffrey Arn ld, Theresa Cook, Kathleen ynch, James Morgan Absent: Frederick Blythe CALL To ODE : The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm at M shpee Toon Hall, Selectman's Conf. Room ADMINISTRATIVE/ANNOUNCEMENTS: Scott Wellington attended the meeting as a guest. Scott is a candidate to fill a vacant seat on the Finance Committee. • Chairman read flyer announcing a"Support Our Troops Rally" to be held on Saturday at 10:00 ani at the 1lshpee Commons. OLD BUSINESS: Conference call with the G office on Mrs~ . State budget received erroneous school budget figures. The data does not include the senior r class and'several students from K.C. Coombs School. The economic status of the schools was also fticorreict. Working to make ad0ustments with the State. No resolution yet. 0 Carl Meredith suggested that the lottery distribution be fairer by returning to tov n funds based on the ratio of the amount of money each town has contributed through lottery ticket, sales. State Representative Perry agreed and would pursue legislation to that end. NEW BUSINESS: Request for transfer offunds recelvedftom Town Clerkor an additional$ 8,00}for May town elections and ballot printing costs. • Finance'Committee requests additional information. Received letter from County Commissioner stating that$53,805 to be returned from County. • Motion moved and seconded that the Finance Committee recommend to Board of Selectman that funds returned from the County Commissioner be committed to reduce amount of money taken from-stabilization fund for FY-04 Barnstable County Town assessment. • Unanimous approval -0. Town Warrant Article 1 —Retirement Benefit Kathleen Lynch will investigate legality of ovrpayrnerrts, which have been made for the past 18 years and a vote to approve after the facts. Information to be presented at the next Finance Committee meeting.
