MASHPEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES FRIDAY,APRIL 11,2003 Present: Chairman, Carlton Meredith Frederick Blythe, James Morgan, Jeffrey Arnold, Theresa Cool, Kathleen Lynch Absent: Dean Arden CALL To ORDER: An emergency me ting of the Finance Committee was called to order at 6:00 pm at Ma hp e Town Hall, Selectman's Conf. Room ADMINISTRATIVE/ANNOUNCEMENTS: Joyce Mason, Town Administrator and Debbie Rami, Town Clerk were present at the meeting. TOPIC AT HADD: Follow-u meeting to discuss requestfor transfer offunds receivedftom TownClerkfor addi lona fu ding for the FY-03 budget. Debbie Dai, Ton Clerk, is requesting an additional $1800.00 to cover the shortfall needed to run the upcoming May 10 election. These costs include ballot printing, coding of machines, freight charges, and unforeseen expenditures resulting from the addition of the a precinct. Debbie Dami stated that she was unaware that tables were available for use at the upcoming election until after she purchased several tables. The cost for the tables was $666.66 and $866.66 for tension barriers. It was agreed that there should be better communication among departments, Jeff Arnold made a motion to approve. Motion seconded by Kathy Lynch. VOTED 2-1; 2-abstination. Jany Morgan asked a question to the Chairman 0 What are the legal responsibilities for the Finance Committee when voting on the FY-04 budget regarding the retirees medical benefits currently covered at %. Jim also asked whether spousesf deceased retirees are currently covered and whether they will continue to be covered. 0 Joyce Mason stated that she would soon meet with town counsel and members of the hoard of Selectmen to consider further action. Chairman Meredith asked that he and any ith r FINC M members who desire be included in the meeting. Ms. Mason assented.
