'Ms. Mason agreed top rovide a <br /> copy of report. <br /> ■ Mr. Avis asked whether communication costs can be consolidated. Ms. Mason noted mo <br /> st <br /> costs are paid out of her budget to ensure'spending control. ' She highlighted her goal to <br /> establish a policy for the town to be reimbursed for personal use of town phones in an effort <br /> to tighten budgets. <br /> Mr. Avis questioned why office supply purchases are not consolidated into one budget. <br /> Ms. Mason noted that most supplies are bought through Central Purchasing, but some items <br /> are department-specific and are purchased directly-by departments. <br /> M . Mason stated that all gen ral-office supplies-are purchased from the same vendor at the <br /> county hid price and.a municipal discount', but agreed some tightening in this area could b <br /> done. <br /> Mr. Avis asked whether projected costs in sone budgets are accurate or'rather used to build <br /> a safety net. <br /> Ms. Mason suggested that irl the future, the Cora i tee and Town Management should <br /> work-together to ommur�cate the budget message to departments before they are <br /> submitted, thus preventing cuts after the fact. <br /> APPROVAL OF IVIINUTES <br /> Leonard Long made a motion to approve the Finance Cor rnittee minutes from January 19, 2005. <br /> Chris A iis seconded the'notion.
