this is being looked at. <br /> V. New Business. Tax rate projection was discussed. Chuck Gaior stated that it <br /> does come in line with a three year projection. Chuck stated that when the <br /> projection was done for 2007 tax rate, it was used on a five % increase in total <br /> property assessments. The result in tai rate was going to go up by five cents,to <br /> Six and 39/100($6.39). what actually happened was that the total assessments <br /> went up ten 10% and as a result of that the tax rate is going to go down by fifty <br /> cents. In the course of to 2 years, it's gone down seventy-five cents. Chuck <br /> noted that there needs to be more care taken over the next few years. The budget <br /> is based on a two and a half 2 percent cap. Anything over that amount needs <br /> to come from free cash of some sort. Chris.Avis and Joyce Mason discussed <br /> assessments,, and whether or not they are starting to level off. <br /> Chuck Gasior stated that consistency should be seem in the assessments, unless an <br /> owner does something substantial to their property. waterfront properties are still <br /> appreciating and the lover end properties have stabilized. Bob Hutchinson stated <br /> that there is still some substantial development within the Town. This new <br /> development will employee people and generate revenue. Chris Avis asked if <br /> there was a cap on assessed value of properties. It was noted that there was not. <br /> There was a brief discussion between Bob Hutchinson and Joyce Mason <br /> regarding assessment distributions. <br /> Joyce Mason, Chris Avis and Linda Carroll had a discussion regarding funds for <br /> fire and police overtime for special events. Chris Avis inquired why there was a <br /> special fund for events. Joyce Mason indicated that it covered fire works, and <br /> ctoberfest. Chris wanted to be certain that this funding issue would not come up <br /> again. There was u Cher discussion regarding an exlstrng basketball court. <br /> Vere was a brief discussion between Chris Avis and Joyce Mason with regard to <br /> the Town plowing of roads. <br /> Sandra Lindsey updated the Finance Comrrdttee on the web site, and more <br /> specifically,the general mailbox. Sandra plans on meeting with Bruce to <br /> determine why there is difficulty in accessing this mailbox. Sandra Lindsey and <br /> Janet Lane will meet in January and work together on this project. Joyce Mason stated that care needs to be taken in <br /> terms of e-mails and what is e-nailed to one another, and Sandra reinforced this <br /> need to the Board. Sandra mentioned that she was happy to continue to carry this <br /> prof ect. <br /> Chuck Gaslor inquired if the Board wanted to set up two meetings In <br /> January,2007. one meeting i's set up for the 91h, as usually scheduled, and <br />
